Fire Autry

There’s a lot of coaches doing more with less out there right now that would be good hires.
Josh Schertz at SLU, Tony skinn at Mason, Jerrod Calhoun at Utah state, Chris Gerlufsen at San Fran would all be good here.
Schertz is the perfect fit and the guy I want. He’s from Brooklyn and has won everywhere he’s been at the low and mid major level. If he wins at St Louis this year, and I think he will, he should be the guy that Wildhack targets. I’m gonna write up a post about him on Friday or this weekend.

Actually our women's Coach would probably do a better job then any of our men's coaches for basketball.
Hah better pressers for sure. You can tell someone coached him in the offseason to get him more comfortable but it just ended up being the same stuff. He has no charisma it’s just the same punchline words.

She's probably forgotten more about coaching then Red will ever know.

I just do not get the psychotic obsession programs have with "staying within the family". It's like they think all of the history ceases to exist because it's someone without a direct connection. The powers that be are not dumb people, why do they get brain rot over this?
Every college has a unique culture. There are nuances and complexities as to how the school relates to its surrounding community, how the athletic department interacts with academics, what booster expectations are, how much the board is involved, etc. etc. etc.

It can be advantageous to hire someone who has experience dealing with all of those nuances and complexities. Sometimes it works, more often it does not. But most coaches fail. So, the problem isn't necessarily the family hire, it's the low success rate for any new hire.

Regardless, we know why Red was hired. The season isn't trending in the right direction, but he'll rightfully get all of it to turn things around and make the tourney.

We'll have a real conversation in March if he doesn't.

Can they also give Wildhack his walking papers? I don't trust him to make a good hire and run a proper search. I think we need a clean slate.
Didn’t they hire a woman to work with Wildhack? Haven’t heard another thing about her since she was hired.

She’s a defensive coach. Do you watch their offensive system? She no longer has Fair to bail them out at the end of the shot clock. They also got waxed by the only good team they’ve played.

We’re sick and tired of watching our team get blown out due to the inability for players to give there coaches 40 minutes each night. At some point it’s the coaches problem for not being able to get that effort out of there players.
I don’t disagree but it’s still just a game.

I live in NoVa. Love Tony Skinn they just extended him to 2030. Has experience in Big 10 Big East and now wins 70% at Mason. Team Takeover and DMV lifer.
I like him too. Have him keep BS and recruiting would be top notch.

I hope the Board of Trustees intervenes and doesn’t allow Wildhack to make any coaching decisions. With Kent retiring at year end I can see JW making a new hire to buy a few more years for himself. Kent isn’t firing the AD on his way out the door.

It’s like an NFL GM firing a coach to save their own butt for a few more years.

I know it was bad day but holy Christ there are some takes in this thread.
When’s the last time SU hoops was good? That’s why there are H0T Takes. SU is lucky to have a large and passionate fan base. We would average like 20k fans again if we got back on track
