Fire Autry

With all due respect I don't have the time or patience for a back and forth on whose in charge up on the hill. We all know whose in charge and and that the BOT plays a large role as well.

Ok. Regardless of who is at fault for the current state of SU basketball. They need to get this right with the next hire. No more political BS, Syracuse “guy”, JB guy, BOT coup or any other excuse. Pick the best coach we can possibly get or risk losing a generation of fans like our football team has.

I got you - well said. We can agree that UCONN is doomed. :)

This isn't the thread for this discussion, but I'm really talking more about a Big East approach, or potentially an ACC & Big East basketball super-conference (after FSU, Miami, and Clemson inevitably leave).

We have a massive problem with that approach. If Syracuse basically gives up on football (which is what this proposal looks like), it’s inevitable administrators are going to look at a giant building in a premium location on campus and start asking “why is this still here, exactly”? Moving basketball to a basketball-sized arena and using that plot of land for something useful would be very, very tempting.

I’m not sure the Big Ten and SEC don’t ultimately split off completely and create their own basketball championship - but that’s admittedly more speculative. I wouldn’t be excited for the future if I was in the Big East though.

I don't disagree, assuming the season plays out as we expect this is the absolutely enormous hire. SU needs to go outside the family and alumni and really hit a homerun. Need to take their time and find the right fit and ensure they have the financial support needed.

This tournament was my first look at this years squad. I am shocked at how the team got worse and worse as the tournament progressed.

I thought, based upon the reviews, that we were getting a couple of plus players from the portal in Kingz and George. I am just shocked at how soft these guys play. George had SEVEN TOs many on telegraphed marshmallow passes.

There’s a lot of coaches doing more with less out there right now that would be good hires.
Josh Schertz at SLU, Tony skinn at Mason, Jerrod Calhoun at Utah state, Chris Gerlufsen at San Fran would all be good here.
I live in NoVa. Love Tony Skinn they just extended him to 2030. Has experience in Big 10 Big East and now wins 70% at Mason. Team Takeover and DMV lifer.

Amazing the first 3 games without JJ starting we blow 3 teams out. JJ comes back and starts win a close game, then lose a close game, then lose by ten then we get blown out. Maybe it's time to sit some people on the bench.

Solid points. I don't think there is an ideal solution; I just know that we are getting priced out of football and it will continue. Maybe it will get worked out when the football powers separate from everyone else (but the funding will go with them). All I know is that Cuse basketball belongs under the lights in Madison Square Garden, and I like our chances if we focus our efforts there. I love Cuse football and wish things were different.

reds presser was a disaster. He just talks in generalities and platitudes - he rarely mentioned the offense and just said our issue was Effort
what do you expect?

hes just trying to milk this cow as long as he can...and saying nothing is the best way to do that

ask yourself this: how bad do you think it would have to get for red to resign? i dont think there is a scenario where that would ever happen.

i genuinely believe that if red was allowed to coach in perpetuity...losing 20 games a season for the rest of his life, he would take that "challenge" and give it his best "effort"...same as JB at the end, too...

its just too fun and exciting to be HC of SU bball to ever say no

plus the money is pretty good too...do you think red will ever have another job paying him anywhere close to what he is getting right now?

I just do not get the psychotic obsession programs have with "staying within the family". It's like they think all of the history ceases to exist because it's someone without a direct connection. The powers that be are not dumb people, why do they get brain rot over this?
isnt nepotism and hiring through personal connections the main way everyone gets hired across the USA these days????!?

Big no to Langel. You can find guys who are proven at a higher level just below the P5.
personally, dont give af if the next coach is "proven" or not...just has to have the goods...and that can be anyone, regardless of resume

I’ll never stop supporting Syracuse athletics, but I just really think we need change before Syracuse is ever good again
Same. I’m basically watching to see William Kyle make all ACC. Only player that hasn’t quit this year yet and I think is deserving to wear orange right now.

Dude went 3 games in a row just getting double triple teamed by the best bigs in the league. Battled and fought while his teammates hoisted terrible 3’s and expected him to go get them. And even made his free throws today 5-8 which is better than the rest of the guards.

What's wild is we made a continuity hire and we appear to possibly be getting continuity.

Problem is, we weren't starting from a good place or one trending up.
It’s 101 in the corporate textbook. Make no mistake Syracuse cares more about the $’s than anything else.

Then when they fail miserably he’s a cheap scapegoat and the people that hired him that were actually at fault putting him in the seat get to continue on up the ladder.

Happened where I work.

Actually our women's Coach would probably do a better job then any of our men's coaches for basketball.

The program honestly resembles social media to me lately where I keep coming back to it but im berated by bad news and disappointment. Im worn out. Will never stop watching or attending but it truly feels like a chore or bad habit at this point

Not after they just spent over $200 million renovating it.

Red and the team need to spend more time in the gym and less time with their documentaries and endorsements.

In the meantime, we need to figure out how much it will take to get Pitino away from St. John's.
