i hear you...but im talking only interim for the rest of this yearPass his son already plays too much
It’s not like Gerry is lighting it up at Siena though….
I agree we need a new coach, but who are you gonna get right now, in-season? Someone who doesn’t have a job right now?
I’m sure someone else has posted this in the 7(!) pages of reactions, but I don’t think this thread needs to be read.
Before you hang Autry from the nearest tree don’t you want to see how good the team can be with Freeman? Let’s be honest here. We definitely win Monday with Freeman and probably beat Kansas with him. So I’m willing to give Autry a little grace here. Freeman is a huge loss to the team.
Hence, not exactly what I call lighting it up.What are you talking about?
They went from 4 wins to 14 in his first year.
They're 4-2 right now.
LololWould it be possible to get Hopkins?
I don't want Gerry anywhere near the SU job but if you don't think he has improved Siena a ton since he's been there, not much anyone can tell you.Hence, not exactly what I call lighting it up.
Duke, No Football, No Football, SEC Money, Donors with Bottomless Pockets“Woe is Syracuse”
Don’t tell Duke, Gonzaga, St. John’s, Vandy, and BYU that private schools can’t make good hires
Improvement sure. But lighting it up there that would warrant being looked at as a candidate here? No way. I will always appreciate Gerry and what he’s done for SU but we absolutely need to go outside the Boeheim tree with the next hire.I don't want Gerry anywhere near the SU job but if you don't think he has improved Siena a ton since he's been there, not much anyone can tell you.
Well there is a first and maybe this is one of those first. They're not going to fire Autry mid-season. We don't do that to SU guys.
We're going to give him the whole season, and if he can't find a way to get it done, he'll be let go. But it's not going to happen after 7 games.
Hence, not exactly what I call lighting it up.
Winning 20 games this year is yet to be seen. Again, I appreciate Gerry and always will but there’s no way he should be considered for this job. Any and all assistants who were a part of this program the past 10 years should not be considered. He's taken over a 4 win last place team in his league, and he will probably win 20 games in his 2nd season.
How many years did SU fail to win 20 games?
Well there is a first and maybe this is one of those first.
Good point. Typical administrative bloat. I wonder what she has done since starting at SU. Haven’t heard a thing about her!Didn’t they hire a woman to work with Wildhack? Haven’t heard another thing about her since she was hired.

Agreed on experienced coach.I didn't say they should consider hiring him. We need an experienced guy who knows what he's doing, not learning on the job.
But the original poster doesn't really have a leg to stand on to suggest that Gerry hasn't done a good job so far at Sienna.
I’m not guaranteeing things would be better this season, but the quitting I saw in the 2nd half should never happen at Syracuse. Not with this talented roster. And by the way I would have Engelstad take over who has experience as a head coach.OK, so the chances of getting a good coach mid-season are almost zero.
That means you're making Griffin or Straughn the interim coach for the rest of the season.
Yeah, that would be just great.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Smaller school, smaller school, smaller school, smaller school, BYU perfect exampleDuke, No Football, No Football, SEC Money, Donors with Bottomless Pockets
Tell me how we can recreate any of those and id believe you
I hear class of 26 is a top 5 classBut autry is amassing a great 2026 recruiting class. How can we walk away from that?
Do you know any BOT members. I do. They love Syracuse football and basketball as much or more than you do.What belief? That no one is in charge of SU basketball and Athletics?
My belief is that SU basketball has been trending down to a mid-major for a decade plus. There are people responsible for that. Others here apparently disagree and think it’s the fanbase’s fault for not understanding the REAL situation that only afflicts SU.
