Fire Autry

JB’s character arc is looking more and more like Walter White with every passing year.
Beyond odd comparison. JB made SU basketball. D1 sports are morally bankrupt. Everything JB was "caught" for is now legal and were pretty minor at the time. We can all agree he hung on too long, not the first and won't be the last to do that.

Isn't that what we did with Red?

Amazing assistant at a premier program who was highly recommended.
Was he an amazing assistant? He oversaw the demise of a once proud program and his best recommendations came from the coach who he deleveled a program with and a career 500 coach whose best years were at Virginia tech

JB + the Carrier Dome made SU Basketball. And “JB” includes the extension of credit for acquiring The Pearl, who contributed significantly, and then there was momentum.

I don't believe for a minute that JB did anything intentionally to harm the program. For the last few years he wanted to stay so he could coach his son. And I don't believe AA was his choice. But he set it up for ADJW to choose him, whether intentionally or not.

Delusional was one of the options I proposed. And if he was unable to look around at any point in the last eight or so years and realize things were going off the rails and he was the largest contributor to that - I’d say that qualifies as delusional.

No people do not just throw it around. He should have been fired after #2. but you can certainly disagree.

Many do. First one was a total joke. Second we went through the Fab Melo stuff, but we also had a guy who spoke his mind and a school that didn’t help to punch back. Relatively easy target for the NCAA.

Agreed, but do not make yourself a target. And should have asked Coach K how to play the game

Really UNC. Roy gave the aw shucks stuff while the school fought tooth and nail for their phony baloney classes. Must’ve cost a small fortune.

The SU lawyers thought if we played nice they would take it easy on us. Meanwhile Bobby Cremins of all people helped do us in.

Since most of you who read this thread won't see it on the Siena thread I'll repost this here. Just in case anyone wants to compare. [I'll duck for cover.] P.S. they beat American University today.

I’m ok to say hire him if he takes Siena to a Sweet 16.

I remember people being high as a kite when Autry got his first real win against UNC then the next game we couldn’t beat bottom feeder GT. Let’s see some sustained success.

The Carrier Dome was huge, no doubt. Without JB, there's no Pearl and all the other success.

JAB did NOT want to play in the Dome.

He liked Manley better, and if it was up to him, we prolly would’ve kept playing in there.

But it wasn’t.
And we didn’t.
And the rest is history.

JAB thought we'd be lucky to draw 12k in the Dome, and it would be like playing in a huge aircraft hanger. As did a lot of people.

Nobody anticipated we would draw over TWICE that many for crappy early season games, and over 30k for Big East games.

Been seeing some old games pop up on Youtube. Actually makes me sick to my stomach seeing the atmosphere even 10 years ago compared to now. I went to the first game against UNC as an ACC member, and that crowd was still a bit tame compared to the ones like Duke. Compared to today's environment it would be the the equivalent of playing a derby match at the Bombonera.
