Fire Autry

I mean, it’s like people have somehow forgotten his final press conference meltdown after the loss in the ACC tourney. What would have happened if Red or GMac didn’t get the job? It would’ve been defcon 5. Also, maybe many of the newer folks on here don’t know about how Hop was essentially forced to leave for the Washington job because JB was making it known that he didnt want to retire and making things very difficult for Hop to set himself up for success.
we are in defcon 5, we finished below .500 2x in the last 5 years after having not done it for 45+

If tonight is a 15+ point blow out, Wildhack has to start shopping around for a new coach.

My top 2 would be Nate Oats and Gerry McNamara (if Siena continues to win out).

Oats isn’t bailing from SEC money. Gerry hasn’t beaten a team within 100 spots of their Ken Pom ranking ( same as us right now ) and even then is poor offensively.

1 isn't going to happen and 2 shouldn't happen

FIFY.

We have zero shot at Nate Oats now.
Nada.
He’s doing well there, and they have
$€¢ money to match or beat whatever we’d offer.

And the absolutely last thing we need is another former Cuse player as HC.

National search.
Best available coach.
Pay what is necessary.

Or we’ll remain in this purgatory of being on the outside of the bubble looking in.

Quote from the horse's mouth at the time JW announced Adrian's hiring.

"Autry has been exposed to every aspect of the sport, and that uniquely prepares him for the job.' “Adrian earned this,” Wildhack said Friday. “Adrian’s not here because he’s an alum, because he played here, because he’s an associate coach here. He’s here because I believe he’s the best candidate to lead this program and sustain the success that coach Boeheim has established over 47 years.”

There are folks here whom dismissed this as simple PR propaganda, what have you, etc. Perhaps, it's certainly convenient, however, they are the words John voluntarily and specifically chose to utter to the viewing public. Considering this was his 1st major hire (revenue sports) as AD, he alone exposed his credibility.
It was, as we've come to know as, "Fran Speak". Just like the preseason QB1 contest was tighter than a witch's *@#.

Yeah his team reminds me of what we saw with Hop at UW - really poor shooting / offense and a very solid defense. Ultimately he might win a good number of games at Siena in that league but that wouldn’t translate very well at the P4 level
im not advocating for GMAC (although i think its pretty obvious he wouldve been the best in-house hire when JB got pushed out) to be next Su coach (though I think we could do a lot worse)

but the idea of grading what GMAC is doing at Siena on the same curve as what a guy like Hop did at UW is insane to me.

we're talking about friggin Siena! have they ever done ANYTHING in basketball? like ever? i cant even think of one player that ever played for them...meanwhile I can name tons of NBA players that played at UW, I can think of a #1 pick!...the resources and profiles of those two programs are not in the same universe.

getting some wins or getting some momentum at Siena at all is a monumental effort. seriously.

when he took the job there i thought it was going to tough to make any noise at all...

no doubt in my mind that if gmac gets a HC job at a major conference school he will survive and have success. its so obvious.
