Why are you assuming we’re going to hire an NBA coach?

I’m not assuming that. I just worry about Wildhack getting seduced by some outside the box hire that he thinks will win the press conference and someone that Melo endorses, aka an NBA retread. When to me, the path to a successful coaching hire is clear as day.

That’s a mistake. The majority of the hot mid-major coaches have actually worked out in recent seasons. Just take a look at the current top 25. Ben McCollum at Iowa, Darian Devries at Indiana, Kelsey at Louisville, Dusty Mays at Michigan, Todd Golden at Florida (won a national title), Nate Oats at Alabama, TJ Otzelbeger at Iowa State, Mark Byington at Vandy (he wasn’t even really a hot name), Grant McCasland at Texas Tech, Ryan Odom at Virginia, Will Wade (originally VCU to LSU), Hurley at UConn, Mark Pope at Kentucky. Scott Drew went from Valparaiso to Baylor back in the day.

And to reiterate the earlier point, there have been so many high profile coaching changes over the last two seasons, and with Hubert seemingly off the hot seat, I don't see a single potential vacancy that should be considered more attractive across all the land. Hopefully this stays the case, and hopefully JW gets it right, because I think we can be in a very strong hiring position come season's end.

Once Brad Stevens helps the Cs get the second championship under his reign, I’m sure he’s the right guy to be our next coach.

lets just go on a run the rest of the season and keep autry. keep in mind they were calling for Coach K's head after year 3 too. with a way worse record than autry.

i totally understand the last few years hasnt been up to par. but we arent even close to eliminated from ncaa's and we have a talented team who is now healthy.

and its just healthier to root for your team rather than "fire autry" when it has a ZERO percent chance of happening until March at the earliest.

Assuming SLU keeps this up and goes into the tournament, Schertz will be one of the hottest coaches on the market this offseason.

I would hope John is grooming him behind the scenes.
