Fire Autry

This invitational was the worst thing possible for our team. We were not ready nor talented enough at this stage to compete. Especially with Donnie going out.
The Houston game built confidence and then Kansas and Iowa State smacked us back down to reality.
I do still have hope that we make the tourney. We play a lot of winnable games after this barrage of attacks we just took. I think we will hopefully improve and learn lessons from these games going forward.
Honestly, this take that the invitational was the worst thing for the team isn't it (and I am not trying to single you out personally, I've seen it a bunch). In the first 5 halves we clearly weren't wildly out talented by any stretch. We were however forced to watch a team be completely set up to fail by an outmatched coaching staff.

It's not a coincidence that everyone seems to regress when they come to this program now, there is one constant and it ain't the players. Its not like we were playing 2012 Kentucky or some team like that this week, we were playing decent teams, teams we COULD hang with talent wise, and per usual we come out with 0 wins.

Whomever "forced" Wildhack to hire from within the program should have some accountability because this is a disaster.

The problem is people in decision making positions who think they are experts or know better than the experts, which seems to be a normal thing nowadays.

Remember with Wildhack your talking about him making 2 real coaching searches, 3 if you want to include Gary Gait and none involved bball. He didn't pick Red there was no choice to get JB out. People mad at Wildhack about the current situation aren't aware of the whole circus at the end of JB's career. He missed on Dino and hit on Fran at least so far.
I'm pretty aware of what happened with the JB transition. That's why I said I realized his hands were tied. If Fran has a good offseason, I'll feel much better about things.

We had a bad game. Not even a bad game, a bad second half to a game. Once the wheels started falling off the whole team did not respond well. I am not going to defend Autry but I’m not ready to write off the season based on 20 minutes of basketball. Let’s get Donnie back in the rotation get into ACC play and see what happens. This team has played 6 1/2 games of solid defense we haven’t seen in many years and maybe the offense will play better as the season goes on.

Wildhack didn't hire Dino.

Ya normally I would think this is an over reaction lol but I’ve seen enough. I have literally no idea who ISU coach is an he turned them from a 2 win team to a legit program

That just shows that there are other talented coaches that aren't big names that have to be poached from big name schools .

You should, however, write off the season because Red is the coach.

I’m holding off on anything totally crazy until I see Tennessee.

A lot of my friends stopped texting about hoops altogether. Which is kinda worse.
This, exactly. I was one of 3 co-captains of the cheerleading team when I was at 'Cuse. One of my best friends referred to me as "Syracuse's number 1 fan by title." My friends and fraternity brothers do not talk about basketball anymore. I probably watch as much or more Michigan State (my wife's alma mater) than 'Cuse at this point. It really sucks.

Edit: The opposite of love is not hate. It's apathy.

There is talent and a good team here. It’s why I implore a coaching change immediately. And figure out what to do long term at the end of the season.

We're not going to do that, but if the next L comes next Tuesday (which is looking fairly likely at this point), it will be time to start the search on the DL.

I would hope whatever double-secret external search committee plan-b process that Wildhack is keeping in his back pocket goes into secret meetings next week... If we are going to do this right (and that's an unknown as well.)

It's likely gonna be a long season.

We have all been hoping for the best with a newly-constructed, NIL-rich team and pieces, but deep down, we all knew this trajectory was VERY possible in year 3 and given the recent past.

All that said, it's still early season and things could possibly turn around, but you can only dig a hole so deep before you aren't getting out of it (to make the tourney.)

He absolutely is, that’s visible after every game. He cares and wants this program to succeed.
This is the worst part too, no one wants the guy to fail (or at least they aren't real cuse fans if they do). When he's no longer the coach, I hope that he is welcomed back with open arms whenever he wants to be there. But the writing is on the wall.

Will definitely be interesting to see the direction MSU goes once Izzo retires. I don’t think they’ll screw up as much as we did.

Absolutely, I’m frustrated with Autry and want him gone but at the same time I don’t want to see anyone from Syracuse fail. I just don’t believe that he’ll succeed. For his sake and ours I just think it’s best for us to move on.
