Maybe it's just me, but this ending seemed obvious from day 1.

It was but some people apparently felt we owed JB even more than building a team around his kids, so he also got to pick his successor.

As sure as I can be. I'd be stunned if Red came back for a 4th year if this team didn't make the tourney barring this team somehow winning 22 or 23 games and being snubbed or something which is highly unlikely to happen.

I love Red and I love what’s he inspires the program to be, but he can’t teach the necessary skills to play that way. He’s shown this year he’s able to teach defense, but his offensive philosophy is troubling. If a coaching change is made it has to be an experienced coach with a record of EXCELLENCE. Screw the coach with POTENTIAL. We can’t afford to not get it right. If JW goes cheap, I can’t keep emotionally charged with this program. It’s means too much to me and all our fans to continue this way. We need someone with a track record of recruiting, teaching skills and winning. I don’t think this staff really knows what shooters look like. Shooters shoot a soft ball. Betsy and Kiyan have potential, but Kingz and JJ shoot heavy balls with no touch. Iowa State shows what shooters look like. Great shooters can come off screens and make shots without having to line it up. We have no one who can come off a screen ready to let it go.

JW is on the clock and so are our fans. I would like nothing better than to knock off Tennessee next Tuesday. I’m afraid we’re going to have another beat down, but this time on our home court. If that happens, it won’t be pretty. I know it’s hard to make a change mid season, but I don’t want to keep running Red out to the press after games to explain himself. That’s more painful than letting him go. I don’t want Red to have go through that. Nobody wants to win more than Red, but it’s just not working. We’re striking out in recruiting so that’s not a reason to keep the staff. I just don’t see this turning around to make the tournament. We looked like it against a Houston, but not close the past two games. Looking at 4-4 after Tuesday night. That’s not acceptable.

This was the final straw. We literally gave up in the 2nd half. This was a very winnable game at halftime.

This is Syracuse University, the B-Ball program, the BOT, and donorbase we're talking about rubberstamping a "fire him now" order.

You have a better chance of Beak & Skiff making cranberry juice, I am afraid.

It will be end of season, unless the L totals pile up into double-digits quickly and the dome is a mausoleum (and it would still prolly be end of season anyways.)

I think it’s just a small minority of people. Everyone who has a clue wants Hodgson or a Langel type. Not saying I agree those guys should be the hire.

We’re giving up over 81ppg against power 4 teams. I’d credit the defense to the awful teams we played prior to Vegas.

Again if he doesn't reach the tourney he will be let go. Everyone knows the score including the people who matter up on the hill.

The people that “matter” on the hill are responsible for this shyt show we see now. Anyone with half a brain knew Red was a disastrous hire in real time.

Im starting to believe SU basketball is equivalent to our football program.

I love Gmac too. Great guy and obviously a Cuse legend. However, if Autry was picked over him initially and this is what we’ve gotten and seen from Autry, why should we hire Gmac?

Just my gut tells me this all went down with future thinking for Gerry and JB .. with Gmac not being ready at the time, I think he was told and good with not taking this mess on and following the legend .. That’s really hard to do .. GMAC good with getting his feet wet at lower level l and letting Red deal with the mess… they didn’t wanna use up Gerry’s time as HC and fan goodwill when he wasn’t ready ..
Also I love how members here say outside of family cause it’s too JB like .. Well JB coached 40 yrs and although he won some .. Gerry and Melo won it all .. Gerry is different .. His Siena teams are different .. He has a strong enough personality to do his ouwn thing .. I’ve said before .. He sounds, acts and coaches different than Red and is going to be a great HC wherever .. it’s easy to see .. I wouldn’t go outside just to go outside either .. everyone has there own HC they want .. I like some fire, winning mentality , smart with adjustments .. Players will run thru a wall for them .. I’d prefer someone younger to be here a while.. Relationships to recruit

If they do not go and get a proven winner and settle GMac you loose the rest of the fan base. Jim got one of his assistants. The university spent money to try to make Red successful. If there is not massive improvement time to higher a non SU alum.

You don’t trust him based on what exactly? This will be the first decision on the basketball side that is his to make in his entire time at Syracuse. People that think otherwise are willfully ignorant of the politics involved and reality.
