Such a shame Red is good people and this is a team full of good kids and some serious athleticism and talent. The coaching chops and tenacity needed are not there. Honestly it’s like we have the most athletic roster of choir boys in the country out there with everyone’s favorite camp counselors leading from the bench.

I think Red is awful. That said I also think our talent and athleticism is way overrated. We have two kids with good verticals. We have no quickness, nobody with a good handle, bad shooters, and bad motors and understanding of the game. We need a better coach and better players.

We have the talent to have won 2 games at least in Vegas. Coaching is the issue. The talent is not being utilized properly at all that’s the problem. The scheme is awful.

Guys have certainly under whelmed at times too but there is a clear lack of leadership paired with a lack of the tenacity from the staff to match the expectations in terms of the vision being sold.

I don’t agree we have bad players. I think some guys are underperforming their talent level, but we didn’t beat Tennessee based on luck. Motor and effort are clearly an issue. I think better coaching would help us tremendously. The defense we played the first month of the season has completely disappeared.

Better coaches will get better things out of them and they both did not help us tonight and they are our highest paid players and they are making tons less than other top level guys. All these things are true.

I’m not being hyperbolic by saying this was easily one of the worst hires ever made. I think it was scooter who pointed out that it was insane to hire an assistant who oversaw the decline of a great program thinking he would turn it around.

That’s great he said a few good things in a press conference, but his “feel for the game” in the actual game is subpar.

For example, in his press conference, he complimented Betsey. I agree he was playing really well and was one of the 5 on the floor when we started cooking in the first half. I believe right after he hit a 3, what does Red do? Subs him out. Why???

Red knows what he wants to do at a high level on offense and defense, but I have no reason to believe in 2+ seasons as coach that he can actually adjust in-game. He seems very formulaic to the point that even when things are going well, he subs out 3 guys instead of keeping the guys out there who are building the lead. And that’s just one example.

That's... a pretty low bar. Most posters on the board can do that.

This was one of the very weakest teams on the schedule and it was a dogfight. I think you might be hypnotizing yourself into coping, which is frankly something I wish I could do.

the main issue is that only 2 or 3 guys on this team are definitely out of eligibility after this season and we dont know who the coach will be. When you don't have a coach or definite playing time it's hard.
