Fire Autry

And if we do, three of the worst seasons in the past 50 years will have come in the last five seasons.

Difficult to wrap one's head around, after such a sustain. Of excellence under a Hall of Fame coach, lasting decades.

Precipitous decline.
It took a lonnnnng time for a lot of people to recognize our decline. There were a litany of excuses being made every step of the way going back to 2015. Some reasonable, many not. For 11 years.

Thankfully this is a sport where the right hire can turn things around in 1 season.

We desperately need that hire.

It's an entirely different era. JAB thrived on upperclassmen who didn't prove much their first couple years and then they blossomed.

But, in this era, it should actually be easier to flip a losing team. But, it gives even more credence to why they need to hire a proven winner. No time to screw around with someone who's never run a successful program.

there is a certain creative freedom that comes with knowing that you can retire at any moment or worse knowing you're getting canned in 2 months. let's hope Red explores that creative space and discovers something new and exciting that's been shackled back by the burden of " i need this job" . cuz that's over. So use this moment Red to coach like there's no tomorrow ! spread the court and as the HOMBRES say...Let It All Hang Out . what you gonna loose ? your job ? it gone.

It’s a world where you gotta bring it every year. That really distinguishes those who can from those who can’t. Theres no lucking into much stuff any more

I can’t believe this is even being argued. Here’s why you fire him now… you fire him now because you want to retain your best players by lining up the next coach asap. If they remove Autry now, they can hire the next coach as soon as the season ends, and that next coach can work on task number one- retaining Donnie, Kiyan, Sadiq. Feelers for the next coach can be sent out (without breaking rules and as soon as that is possible).

This person can immediately assess needs and what’s available in the portal to address those needs. By not firing Red now we are watching the probability for a successful 2026-27 season drop by the day. Amazing that people think it’s a good idea to delay firing Red. All SU is doing is increasing the likelihood that next season is going to be another dud. All that being said, you end this awkward mess and pressure cooker we’re in right now with a lame duck coach who’s being humiliated by the fan base that’s chanting “fire Red” in-game, blasting him on social media and fan forums, along with player parents questioning his intelligence, etc.. All of this is insane. In the end I am so sad for all of us who dearly love this program and were spoiled for so many years with the success we’ve grown accustomed to. We don’t deserve this. Enough is enough. Fire him now.

What firing him him now or at end of season isn't the problem?

What if we simply can't hire a new coach at the end of the season?

What if we have to wait for the new chancellor situation to be sorted before the BOD allows any decisions to be made??

Lots of what ifs...

We're where we're at now because of bad decision, after bad decision, after bad decision by the administration. One thing we seem consistent at...

If JW is told to sit on his hands and we're unprepared / not ready to make this decision in a timely matter at season's end, would it be a real surprise??

It would be maddening to run back a terrible year 3 that ends with an embarrassing whimper... and then watch all the good coaching targets sign elsewhere while we wait on the a new Chancellor transition before we can do anything with the bball program.

Don't sleep on our ability to royally screw this up with our dysfunctional bureaucracy on the hill.

Here's hoping we're prepared to act swiftly and efficiently at the end of the season.

What if everyone orders takeout from the same Chinese restaurant and they run out of chopsticks?

Syverud announced that he was "retiring" last August.

SU already has a replacement candidate lined up.

There's nothing to be sorted.

You really think that Wildhack will be prevented from firing Red until July 1? I've got a bridge to sell you.

Not worried about firing... Worried about hiring.

With no Chancellor in place, who knows what sort of BOD action or non-action/dysfunction we may be in store for?

Tell me your fortune cookie fortune. We should go with that.
