Fla St HAS to be a win.

We are on the low end of turnovers created this year.. need to see a few more in key spots like friday.
Yep I think we can get a ton of pressure on Milton, they are weak on the OL and we have a lot of sacks so far, hopefully that will help get some turnovers

Notre Dame never played Rutgers and they put 31 points on Wisconsin in the 4th quarter with a third-string QB.

I hate them, but they are good. Moreover, we cannot look at many opponents and think automatic win, let alone the talent amassed by FSU.
Lazy take. Notre Dame put 31 points on Wisconsin in the fourth, all right, but two pick sixes, a kick return TD and a four yard "scoring drive" for a field goal suggest that the third-string QB had little to nothing to do with it. Notre Dame is not that good. Their line is mediocre.

Exactly. It was 13-10 Wisconsin in early fourth, in spite of questionable officiating early on, which will now be overlooked since it ended up a blowout.

I don't know what happened but Wisconsin allowed the kickoff TD right after their FG put them up, and fell apart mentally.

They fumbled midfield next possession allowing a short field ND TD to make it 24-13. Responded with a missed FG, then threw interceptions their next three possession that led to a short field, FG and included two pick six.

The fact that we’re 3-1 without creating many of the turnovers that have led to wins in the past few years isn’t a bad thing. Turnovers are as much the result of luck as skill - they’re hard to replicate on a year-over-year basis.

The fact that the D is allowing ~18 ppg is a much more comforting stat in my mind.

We'll be on the road against a FSU team that generated 453 yds. of offense against Louisville (who only gained 131 yds. on the ground). The Seminoles don't appear as formidable as in some past years, but I certainly don't see this as a "should win" game for us.

Agreed.
For all their struggles, they still have several very large, very talented D Linemen, and athletes all over the field on D.

I’m not sure our strength - run game,
will be enough on its own to overcome their strength - run D,
without at least a serviceable passing attack to mix in, and continued solid D of our own.

LOL, you are burying the lede.

We got handled by Rutgers. We aren’t world beaters. Florida State still has talent. BTW, that WISC-ND fourth quarter was sick. Not sure why one discounts it.

Eh, we're not world beaters but we didn't get "handled" by them. We held them under 200 yards of offense and outgained them. The refs gave them a BS fumble that stole a score from us and we played stupid in the second half.

We didn't get handled, and technically, they just handled Michigan for three quarters in the big house. They lost the same reason we did - stupid mistakes and decisions.

I will be rooting for a win next week: but I keep thinking they will be saying it is a must win for them. They can either dig in or give in.

I expect that Florida St. is going into this game feeling like we represent a good shot for them to get a win and get back on track. They're going to want to impose their will.

That said... mentally and emotionally they can't be in a great place right now. That's a fragile team and there's real blood in the water.

We need to be the hunter. Make them react. They do have athletes that can do things individually, but they are a mess as a team. Put them in a tough spot and let the pressure build and they're probably not going to respond well.

I agree

I expect we get a very strong game from them

Have to get up on them early, a 10-0 lead could break them

We need to get off early and create doubt. If we allow FSU success early they will gain confidence and a little swagger.

Your starting QB had 2 turnovers, and 4 sacks. We lost that game on offense, our defense played well enough, without the turnovers we have a good chance to win the game.

FSU is a mess. I can't see them scoring more than 20 points against our D, without field position help. So if we play well on STs and do not turn the ball over, we will have a great chance to win. If things go well on O it will be a redo of Liberty. If things do not then it is a redo of Rutgers. Either way I expect the game to be ugly.

I’d love to see us manhandle their offense and crush their QB so he turns to a fragile mess, like we did to the Rutgers QB years ago. Can’t remember the name.

The way we had quite a few additional chances for sacks against Liberty, if we play like that again we’ll break FSU.
