Football 2022 Away Game Discussion

Wake is probably my favorite ACC away tailgate/venue because it offers easy tailgating and the stadium is a piece of cake to navigate. Wake fans also are really chill.

Winston-Salem however is kinda boring but there are things to do nearby. Depending on the date I might try and bring my better half and spend a day or two in Asheville or similar.

You could make pizza in the hotel parking lot.

Would love to go to an away game, just not sure which when. Timing will help dictate. I’d prefer to do one in September or October. UCONN seems the least exciting one, but the timing is optimal. I’ve only been to two board away game tailgates (Maryland the time before last and LSU) and enjoyed both.

Relatively easy trip if you leave NJ early Saturday am and stay over Saturday night. You could do a sidetrip to Litchfield or Mystic...Hartford is kinda dull and the stadium will be full of hypersensitive jerky boys...but we should win by 3+ TDs. The tailgate will be even better than our MD setup.

I'll be at Uconn.

Hopefully its a nooner. I assume CBS Sports is pretty much locked in for TV coverage correct?

We should know game time well in advance ie couple months before is there any reason to wait to announce it?

Was planning on UCONN and Clemson for our away trips next year. We have never been to Clemson for a football game and understand that you must go at least once. WF is a possibility depending upon the schedule.

Looking at the five game away schedule as we know it

@UConn, Sept 10th
Ordinarily this would be a huge away game draw. Sadly, Elton John is playing in the Dome that night. However, the Fine Mess will be doing an away game tailgate at the Aircraft Club across the street from the stadium. The Aircraft Club (Aero Club) is one of the best tailgate set ups in college football for visiting fans.
This is the only walkable hotel to the tailgate and stadium. If you decide to book: you might think about a separate reservation for Friday night and Saturday night. Cancel the one you don't use after the kickoff time is announced. We should know the kickoff time by early summer.

@Wake Forest (Date: TBD) we seem to mostly get them mid season. This is one of the easier tailgate setups in the ACC. Assuming no date conflicts, I expect a Fine Mess Tailgate here. Motels are usually plentiful. A Marriott and Best Western are walkable to the stadium and tailgate.

Clemson (Date: TBD) generally we get this game mid season. Bucket list experience. Clemson should be down somewhat. Depending on the date we might try to do a tailgate. It isn't the easiest place to tailgate at...Motels are problematic. I suggest booking ASAP after the schedule is released if you plan to stay in town. I usually stay 30-60 mins out of town to save some $$$.

@BC and @Pitt (Dates: TBD) our "rivals" but we almost always have one of these games at Thanksgiving. Tailgating is a PITA at BC. Pitt is much easier. We'll see how the schedule falls if one of these games is early/mid season to encourage a better away game turnout. The Fine Mess hasn't done a game at either location in awhile. BC in 2016 IIRC and Pitt way back in 2006.

So which games do you think you might attend?
Uconn and Clemson for sure. Wake or Pitt depending on schedules.

I'm assuming CBS unless it falls down to SNY. Hopefully, our kickoff time gets released by late May.

I thinks the dates for conference games will be released around May, but the game times don’t actually get released until a week or two before the game.

Some conferences have already announced their conference schedules for 2022. Why is the ACC so late?

They release some non conference early season games well before the season.

Yes, they do. The dates for our four non-conference games have already been announced.

Yes we’re aware.

Usually with the non conference scheduled game you get a game time months in advance. Which is why TexanMark said what he did.

For conference games we won’t find out the times before 2 weeks and sometimes in the 6 day hold depending on the schedule

So have we now shifted to playing both BC and Pitt away every other year?

So have we now shifted to playing both BC and Pitt away every other year?

Yep, back to the way it used to be.

And don't have to go to Louisville for once (thank God).

The ACC will drop the dates by mid/late January. ESPN releases a bunch of kickoff times for TV purposes usually the last few days of May.

So have we now shifted to playing both BC and Pitt away every other year?
Yes, that got switched around when we played BC at the Dome three years in a row.

The ACC is almost due to announce intra division opponents for football for the next 10 years or so. If they are going to continue to continue to use divisions.

I would think these would have already been announced if not for the possibility of pods coming soon to P5 conferences.

If that happens, I am thinking and hoping they switch things again so we have a drivable away game every season. That would be nice.

Thinking we will surely be playing BC and Pitt every season for football indefinitely, no matter what model is used.

Making a driveable road game to BC or Pitt Thanksgiving weekend is not a good deal. BtW, our division pretty much sucks. I'm not saying each opponent sucks but geographic wise it isn't great. Maryland really screwed BC/Cuse over by leaving.

A 3-5-5 schedule is much better solution to build rivalries in this league.

Sorry for the off topic question but I know someone in this thread will have the answer. After not renewing my season tickets last year, I’m thinking about coming back next year. What’s the bare bones season ticket price? I had 2 in section 336, and I’m thinking about downsizing to 1 and I don’t really care where I sit. Thanks for any help.

supposedly there is a price increase coming for next year id expect to pay at least 150 to 175 for 1 ticket for the season, not including parking

Try $200 from what I have heard

Maybe I’ll just do what I did this year and go when a friend has extras.

Thinks it’s a little steep IMO

But it’ll still be far below most programs
125 was super cheap and that was 75 for the seats and 50 donation, going to 125 for the seats themselves is ok
