If Donnie does come back next year, the biggest priority should be to get the best point guard in the portal. Throw a lot of NIL dollars at him. Donnie, Sadiq and the class we have coming in could really be special with a top notch and experienced point guard at the helm.
I think you take a bruiser center first. don't forget we need two centers next year. Just wondering where people think JJ is going to go, because if you think Autry is going to cut him loose you're just wrong. That leaves Choppa, JJ, Kiyan, and the best point guard in the portal.

Didn't finish my thought. I'm not sure the best PG in the country wants to play here in that backcourt even with as big as a bag as we can come up with.

Center is the main position they are going after next year. Priority 1 don’t worry

yea I know I'm arguing with some of the peanut gallery. Now that we are rebounding well people forget just how terrible we were at rebounding for the last forever. Texas Tech is a top 20 rebounding team right now and we beat them on the boards by 9 (39-30). We are a top 25 rebounding team. That's because Eddie takes up space under the hoop and battles then Donnie and Davis/Petar are the vacuum cleaners

Please people go look up total team rebounding % on Teamrankings.

Last year we were #330, 2 years ago we were #230. This year we are #24. Donnie is at #30 in rebounds in the country the top P4 Freshman rebounder in the country!, the next P4 Freshman in rebounds is Mr Cooper Flagg in the 60's.

That is unheard of from where we were getting outrebounded consistently by the Colgates and midmajors the last few years.

Is that change due to Lampkin or due to not being in a 2-3 zone 95% of the time?

Look at last years #'s. That's what you get rebounding with what we had last year for a front court.

He is one of my favorite recruits in a long time, but that is a lot of eggs in one basket.
Here we go again. Just like Carlos was the savior for this season, right? I’d rather go for a proven stud PG in the portal.

Guess what we went to the championship game in 87 with a sophomore point guard, and won in 2003 with a freshman point guard.
Talent tops all other things, Melo knows talent, let him see how the Aussie is before we go off the deep end.

I am not falling for it anymore from the staff I will need to see it. The talent evaluation at the PG position has been suspect at best at this point.
Phil - don’t know why you keep saying the same thing over and over. Dakota was the plan. He committed. He backed out. Carlos was plan B. You act like this has been going on for decades with Red. JJ will play point soon like I said even months ago. Choppa needed to prove he can excel in key situations and he earned a lot of trust in Cornell game. Let’s see what happens the next 5 games

More excuses I am tired of the excuses. The excuses have been ongoing for over a decade now. I am done with the excuses. Carlos even being a plan A-Z is a problem.

You need some positivity somewhere lol

Let me track back a bit — I like Luke. I think he wi be good. But I would also like a seasoned PG, but maybe Luke is that guy since he’s playing pro ball.

My 0.02 is I think center is generally overrated in college outside the very top guys.

So give me wings and guards.

Just a note to be clear - I’m v happy with Reds high school guys/Luke coming in. Just cannot roll the dice as our only true lead guard.

One thing I can assure you of, melo will be the center of fundraising next year. So everyone should be very excited about what he is going to bring to help with getting kids. And I agree with you on PG front btw

Heard all the hype about this class, too.

Now Luke is the Aussie Shaun Livingston?

Logic coupled with the experience and quality he is playing against before getting here at least provides for some confidence in this kid at least.

The state side high ranked HS PGs that everyone has been chasing each offseason struggled to meet expectations more often of recent in their freshman year.
