For those are already to move on from Red

Work with what you have. Copeland and Cuffe were/are good enough PGs to steer this team into the tournament Red decided they sucked and we almost lost to Cornell/Colgate/LeMoyne/Younstown St because of Carlos getting worked every possession.

I don't really care about the arms race we still get good players its not like we are surrounded by competing major conference basketball programs.
Copeland couldn’t come back

People fail to realize Copeland flunked out
Athletes do most of their course work during summer school I'm sure he could have fixed the academics that is what both parties wanted.

I don't really know the details.

Red clearly screwed up big time giving Benny the extra year after he quit the team previously the year before. Looks like a similar mistake not showing Bell the door this year we haven't even gotten one hot shooting game from him. Got absolutely pantsed in the portal by Leffew after hiring his coach. You think bringing Q back would have resulted in worse PG play than what we've seen.

For his character faults he was the one player on the team that cheered on his teammates the hardest from the bench. Might have grown up this summer.

I know you do shtick but for the posters than don’t know you are….

Copeland is averaging like 15 mins and 1 assist a game for a 4-3 McNeese State team. I loved his skills too. Something happened to him, sad story

I said it a couple days ago, people don’t realize how far behind this program is when it comes to these things. A huge donor yesterday told me “NIL or die” and the main focus is getting players and spending money on them. Unfortunately this is reality when spending goes elsewhere. Melo center becoming outdated. Workout equipment outdated. I’m currently working with my brother to get them treadmills from this decade. So when people go nuts about Red and the coaching, I look at how much the program is lacking and the loudest complainers are usually the cheapest. Welcome to the NIL world
to be fair, it isn't just NIL. We have struggled to beat LeMoyne, Colgate, Cornell and Youngstown st. They don't have anywhere near the NIL we do. We look like a hodge podge out there. Nothing fluid. That isn't NIL. We have been disorganized and misguided with some of our player evaluations. That isn't NIL.

He has back issues because he's had issues all season. His back was wrapped up during the exhibition games.

The bus trip didn't help any.
Right. But flying on a plane doesn’t help back issues either. Lots of things make back issues worse. He was standing in Brooklyn vs sitting in a chair on the bench.

The real issue is we have a 22/23 year old with a bad back. It’s going to linger most likely regardless of the mode of transportation.

There’s more room on a coach bus than on a plane.

And the extra time is useful for team building, classwork, camaraderie. And as far as NIL and the basketball program, I don't understand the complaints when we have one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
Making a big deal about a little thing.
Just win baby.

This is just weird to me. Where's that sweet, sweet ACC money going?
I heard we were going to be really good and UConn and Rutgers will be left in the dust and playing club ball.

Good grief. The hoop team is begging alums for money for air travel. . That tell you what is better for them?
We have 1 NBA player currently. Maybe we can ask Devo for some of his 90k TBT money.

you think players never “flunk out” before ? judah mintz was barly eligible and only reason he was is bc of his position the team. quadir was kicked off by red, and a move that had a ripple affect on others (like maliq).

The seats on the bus will be much bigger and better for a large person than the plane

Additionally, we have a few guys who could afford to toughen up.
Other than riding the bus, what other things do you suggest the program do to help toughen 'em up?

Look no further than JAB.

He allowed it and did nothing to keep momentum going.

However — Autry can complain about all of these things - STILL no reason to be in two possession games with Colgate, Cornell, and LeMoyne.

Both things can be true.

I dunno. I was a college athlete; if it was 5-6 hours or less we took buses, more and we flew. TBH I preferred the buses; it came right to campus to pick us up and then went straight to the hotel or venue. Air travel you have to take a bus to the airport, move everybody and their crap from the bus to the plane, then do it again from the plane to the bus, then go to the hotel. A lot of us would sleep on the bus and air travel disrupted that. You also have to manage hydration more flying because of the dry air.

Maybe basketball is different as it's a smaller team but I really don't see this as a big deal.

Also, SU had a $100M surplus last year. The money is there if they do really needed it.

Who is begging whom? I'm a donor and haven't heard about it. Not saying I don't believe you, I'm just curious about the situation.

TBH I think the main problem air travel solves is that you don't take the hit to clout of having rode a bus. I could see an argument there for recruiting.

other donors on this board have been asked for money to help with air travel.
