Fran Brown Says - Part II

Stats only tell one side of the story. There were too many snaps where Steve looked confused and scared to throw. He is partly responsible for some of those missed protection calls. We won’t win games of significance if he only plays 1 good quarter.
He’s on start number 2 I think the kid bought himself some time after that comeback. Also we always are saying the best player on the team is the backup. Something I have learned is that we are always wrong and the coaches that see these players daily are always right. Fran is going to ride with the player that won the competition, put up a bunch of points on Tennessee and lead a comeback vs UConn.

This worked out in the end, but if we are going to beat some of those playoff teams we will soon face, Fran might need to keep his loyalty to his personal and not professional life.

I hear you, but I think the important part is what you started with. It did work out.

Personally I'd wanted Collins to come in too. But that 2 minute drill at the end of the game, watching Steve march down the field I knew we were going to get the TD and felt bad doubting him and HCFB. No guarantee that would've happened with a swap.

Guy got rocked 4 times and that was just the clean hits. The first one seemed to shake him up and he seemed more off after that one. Let’s not discount that he might have been shaken up after the first big hit and took awhile to settle back down.

And I’m not implying he was concussed and the staff threw him in to play anyway. Anyone that’s played football or any other sport where you get absolutely leveled, know how that can mess up your body for awhile where it’s just “off”.
Agreed. He seemed off after that initial big hit. To his credit, he shook it off, but I don't ing discount that it impacted his performance.

do we even know he is making the calls.. Some teams have centers some have QBs, Some have RBs

I was not necessarily meaning what happened on Saturday, but the general comment that he made in response to a question about making a change, and I think he meant at any time, he puts loyalty first. So I was thinking that is not always the best decision, and if he needs to make another one at some time, he does not let just loyalty get in the way.

I didn't want Collins to come into the UConn game, but I do want him to play the 4th quarter (or more) Friday vs Colgate, assuming we have a 4 TD lead by then.

He needs to get game experience. He will be needed at some point, and it probably will be a high pressure situation. It's not fair to have your first experience be a 3rd down and 6 at Clemson with 1:24 left in the game trailing by one score, or something like that.
