Axe Daryl Gross Interview Part II
...On if an ACC Network will be formed:
"There is a great vision there, and a vision to come to fruition. The (ACC) Commissioner (John Swofford) has tremendous vision and passion for wanting what is right for the conference. We all know it is the right thing. Eventually, we are going to get there.
"Our footprint, our demographics are amazing. Of the five equity conferences (ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC, Big 12), ours is probably the best. We are proud of that. We think we can, at some point, leverage that into something that is really special.
"We are very fortunate that our partnership is with ESPN. Where some of the other equity conferences have to combo it a bit. Ours is tied directly into them. We expect to have a more enhanced, robust partnership with them one day with the ACC Network."...

..."We have tremendous facility needs. We have tremendous concepts that we are trying to change in the ACC. We have tremendous things going forward that we want to do in terms of our multimedia rights. We have tremendous things we want to do in terms of eventually being apart of an incredible network with the ACC.
"There is so many things that we have going on. We have to finish the indoor football facility, which is making progress. We wanted to go a little faster, but we’re there. All those variables are amazing things. We want to become more global in our brand. We have been, but we want to take it to another level where the attraction to Syracuse helps our whole student-athlete welfare and our culture by proving more resources. Those things are important...

Nine Game ACC Football Schedule May Have Enough Votes to Pass (TNIAAM; Cassillo)
...It's been thought that there were two main barriers to a nine-game slate to fix these issues: A) Notre Dame's five-ACC-teams-per-year rotation thatreversed league athletic directors' original decision on this matter back in 2012. And B) The four SEC/ACC rivalry games. Most importantly, the latter, when combined with a Notre Dame matchup, would lock those teams into 11 games, with very minimal flexibility left for further scheduling. Those four schools -- Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Louisville -- seemed the most likely to prevent the jump up to nine games. Until this tidbit came out...
Georgia Tech actually favors a nine-game schedule...

SU continues to examine the potential for a new stadium to house its football and basketball teams. But new Chancellor Kent Syverud has said equal attention should be paid to the option of renovating the Carrier Dome.
"We are actively looking at the options, because at some point or another a decision will have to be made what the future is -- whether that's the renovation or a new building. We are actively continuing to research and get our ducks in a row,'' he said.
Building a new stadium would require significant public financing. That likely means waiting until the "next budget cycle'' to see whether state officials are still interested, Raij said.
"We're going to have to wait until the next budget cycle to see where the state is,'' Raij said. "Since this budget cycle has passed, we have not been engaging in active discussions about it. If this were to move forward at some point, there would have to be community support, and there needs to be an engagement with various parties about potential funding sources.''

Qaadir Sheppard is One of the Top Players in the New York Class of 2015
Class of 2015 SU Target NY DE Qaadir Sheppard Being Pursued by DL Coach Tim Daoust (PS; Mink)
Syracuse is trying to cash in on several New York area prospects in the 2015 recruiting class, and defensive line coach Tim Daoust is scheduled to make a visit to New Rochelle's Iona Prep on Thursday to work on adding one more.
Qaadir Sheppard, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end/outside linebacker, lists Syracuse as one of three offers from power five schools — along with Boston College and Rutgers — and hopes to make a decision sometime this summer.
Sheppard participated in the NJ/NY Nike Football Training Camp last weekend in Florham Park, N.J., and he said coaches from Miami (Fla.), Maryland, Connecticut and Buffalo have recently made stops in the school to look at Sheppard.
"(Daoust) likes I'm able to rush the passer and how I can drop back in coverage," Sheppard said. Rated as a three-star prospect by Scout — not ranked by the other three major recruiting services — Sheppard said he mostly plays the five- and four-technique for his high school team.

St Peter's Prep DB D'won Walker Score First BCS Offer From Pitt (NJ.com; Hunt)
D'won Walker, a St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey city, N.J.) defensive back, recently received his first BCS offer from the Pitt Panthers, he confirmed with NJ.com Wednesday. The 6-0, 185-pound junior plays in a defensive secondary that boasts Minkah Fitzpatrick, the No. 1 recruit in the NJ.com Top 50, as well as other potential FBS level recruits Ahmad Thomas and Corey Caddle.
Walker is the second player from the group to break out and he is astounded to have the opportunity to play football at its highest level, and at a school he has always had a high opinion of.
“It makes me feel good, especially because Pitt was my No. 2 school behind North Carolina. And they offered me first, which is a good sign,” he said.
