Fake and Go I hope. I really hope he realizes before the first time he tries to run it Saturday that the bubble screen is going to have be used sparingly at best. Going to need to run some actual pass patterns in this game to have a chance.

I am having nightmares of us starting with the football and running a bubble screen on 1st down for a pick 6. If I'm FSU's DC, I put 8 in the box and play tight single coverage. I take my chances that even on the odd occasion that SU gets a WR open deep, that Hunt won't be able to complete it. What are the odds we get more than one long pass TD?

The only way we can stay close is if FSU turns it over 4 times and we don't turn it over at all, combined with a TD on D and another on ST and also being able to grind out 300 yards on the ground and eat up large chunks of clock.

Would be an opportune time to start rolling Hunt out of the pocket.

I wouldnt throw screens at all in this one. Risk/reward is too big/small.

only have to spend 5 seconds strategizing against it. Play tight single man and dare to beat them deep. They know we can't.

I've replayed that 100 times already and fully expect them jumping it for a pick 6.

I'd play single man press coverage with 8 in the box and dare us to beat them over the top. We can't, they know it. Getting lucky on 1 isn't going to win the game.

I hope we run some slants, stuff across the middle, and the quick hitter to the TE up the seam.

It's going to be a loooong day with our offense and if we try to run outside it's going to be longer.

I was thinking that to. after all of our 3 and outs, it would depend on how quickly florida state scores.

but we could give each of our 4 backs 20 carries - and maybe sprinkle in Hunt with a few.

Well, if they play tight man to the WR and slot man - they can't stack the box. You'll have a nickel or safety on the slot guy. It's nice to run then, or run some qb draws as the defenders will be watching their man, not the backfield as in zone (overly simplified explanation).

They may try some cover 2 as well, keep the corners in.

My guess is FSu doesn't give a and will play what they do best.

well, how about we eliminate the 3 and outs. let's play 4 downs. we need 2.5 per run. assuming no dumb penalties. crap.

they will return a bubble screen for a pick six

SU will respond by throwing the ball backward to give more space at which point FSU will blow it up and return a fumble for a TD

FSU played man on Wake and kept 6 in the box and wake ran pretty well until they threw so many picks they were behind. if we go to 2 wr sets then we just make it harder to run. we need to spread them out and home they miss a tackle or 2. the throwing is getting teams in trouble against them and its not because of great pressure. also no one tries to pressure them with blitzes so they get picked apart.. teams are losing by 50 anyway so why not be aggressive on D and hope the QB makes 1-2 bad throws. he wont if you just sit back every play.
