Is it just me????

I think our path to 8 is narrow, honestly. It'll be tough to fly to Cal and win out there. Not that we aren't a better team, all things considered, just that I think the physical toll of having 2 cross-country trips within a month is a lot to overcome.

Miami is... Miami. Anything can happen, but we'll be big home dogs for good reason.

That leaves VaTech, BC and UConn. All 3 winnable games and 2 at home.

IMHO a close loss on Saturday is still a loss and makes getting to 8 wins immensely difficult. And I've made my point already about why I think 8 wins is critical for the program going forward.
Fair points on an absolute basis. I think BC/Uconn will be wins from what i've seen. Again, it's Syracuse nothing is guaranteed after the ALCS. But I think we'll get to 7 wins. It comes down Cal, Miami, Tech. I think 1-3 occurs in this troika. This isn't the gauntlet to end all gauntlets.

We need to really show up on Sat no matter what.

Is it just me or are most of us just totally deflated from Thursday, effectively, anticipating the worst going forward? They looked absolutely unprepared and unable to adjust. This all seems like a movie we’ve seen before.
Its not just you.

I'm a pessimist.

Honestly, I was deeply concerned after the 1st or 2nd pass. McCord looked shaky & uncertain from the start.. You cannot be those things when you're trying to upset a better team on their field. Overall the team looked flat, unprepared & incapable on O.

Absolutely deflating loss.

We've all seen this movie before. It's on Fran to change the outcome.

Win on Saturday and we can dream again.

I'll never forget that. We had the special VIP passes where we got to walk through the tunnel and stand on the sidelines as the players ran out. I had a broken finger from the tailgate.

By the time we got to our seats we were already down 7-0.
Even with the Clemson loss the week before there was still a lot of energy on campus walking to the Dome. That ended quick.

Top of my head, snap over Paulus’ head in 2009. Pitt bubble screen 80 yard TD in 2010, Lamar 80 yard TD pass in 2016, ND INT TD in 2022. Shrader hit and fumble against Clemson in 2023 (technically the 3rd play).

I guess it's not THAT bad. But this trip to the Dome, I'd love to see a win.
Shrader had a horrific pick to start a game I thought, one that was right in front of us. I'm not that confident, I flush this stuff from my head now

that was definitely ND 2022...we had a great view of it

I'm usually in the optimistic camp but I'm really concerned about the remainder of the season. And I'm not exactly the playoff or bust type.

The fact that our receivers couldn't get separation for even screen passes as our oline was collapsing is really discouraging.

Don't get me wrong, our future is bright. But the remainder of this season is seriously in question and next year's schedule is a bear.

I am kinda in this camp...

I do think the Pitt secondary was the fastest secondary we've seen all year and that we will likely have better matchups in the upcoming teams on the schedule.

That said, I am not sure we can get a balanced running game as I fear the PITT game has exposed our achillie's heel - an O-Line that is very sub-par. I am also not sure that can be fixed adequately w/o an influx of better line players.

Pitt has blueprinted a recipe for success against us that targets and exploits that weakness and that our upcoming opponents will try to exploit similarly.

Can any of our upcoming opponents do the same as effectively??

The coaches certainly have their work cut out for themselves.

Sure, fans feel deflated, but it's on us to overcome such feelings and continue to cheer our obviously improved team. Improved culture, improved recruiting, QB play, and yes, improved play on the D- and O-lines. Areas need work, and that's true for all teams, more or less.
At times like this, I take solace knowing however bad I feel, the players, the coaches, and their respective families all feel worse than I possibly could. They all have a greater stake in SU's success than any fan, and I'll continue cheering and refrain from calling for heads to roll as if my "pain" is the only important consideration. It was heartening to read so many other supportive posts in this thread and others.

Just being honest. I'll still watch the games and hope for best (especially Miami), but I've mentally moved on to basketball.

10 years ago that would be understandable. but now I don’t see the rush
Just saying it's the reality of what I'm doing. I'm reading/watching more about bball team than I believe I would be if we beat Pitt. Still going to watch as I said.

If that Pitt game had happened under Grandpa this year, I'd already be over on the B-ball board knowing the 'ball 2nd half of season collapse had begun.

Fran and company get the benefit of the doubt of course and can hopefully bounce back.

From the 'fan' perspective, man Idunno. Ive had season tix since I was 11, Im now 45. Im one of many, many SU alums in my fam, my grandfather, father, his brother and sister, and my sister as well.

We live 4 hrs away, we travel hard for even home games. Tailgate for 4-6 hrs at NMAN and make mad bbq every one to boot. Have been to many road games over the last 35 plus yrs as well.

I get that we as fans don't put in what players do, hell their schedule w practice and school is insane. But Id venture to say with what I and now my kids put in, I am just as upset at not winning as any player thats been through in over almost 4 decades. I put a hellofa a lot into sufb, it hurts reeeeal bad to see us be unsuccessful

I think there are many of us die hards who walk the walk have a legit claim to being upset. No disrespect to your point, at all. It's a share-the-wealth PSA I guess lol

Yours is a fair point, and we all have a right to complain. I do too. And like you, I was a long time season ticket guy before moving to AZ in 2020. Tics from the early 90s till we left. But I skipped out after 2 years of the Grob era. Came back with Marrone.
I sure complained a lot with Grob. I get it. Maybe it's just that I'm able to feel a little less pain knowing that others who love the program more than I ever could, as players and staff, are hurting even worse.
They're a little like family. No one can hurt you more, but we ought to care about them nonetheless. It makes it easier when walking across campus to your car in -20 wing chill. And it makes it a little easier to cope with disappointment.

At LSU in 2017, Dungey threw a near pick six on I believe the first play of the game. And honestly could have been potentially ejected for the way he tackled the defender out of bounds.

And then 2008 against Penn State in the Dome, if I remember correctly they fumbled on their first play, we then immediately fumbled on our first offensive play, and they scored on like a 70 yard pass right after.
Maybe we'll just handcuff you to Chip and give you guys a tap.

that 2008 game I call the "Ichiban game".

Soon after what you describe me and my nephew left, went back to the parking lot, decided to Ichiban for a full 5 course glorious meal watching and enjoying that chef show with the dude flinging shrimp into my shirt pocket, then drove back to the parking lot for the post game tailgate but it was still early fourth quarter!

Anytime now and since then I'm convinced its a painful L, as my fine mess guys know, I'm out rather then sit there and take the pain. That's ever since the first time ever leaving early and that was the Ichiban game.

We've never won when I've hit the road like this, Oh SU fandom, such a cruel reality sometimes...
