Future Campus Framework Discussion

Personally I think if su doesn't do something to address the lacking areas of the dome they will live to regret it. In the day and age of media being available anywhere and every game on tv, fewer people will head to the hill to sit on metal benches, eat crap food, flat beer, and get baked in a 95 degree bubble. Also recruiting will be effected with the poor locker rooms and player amenities. If the rumors are true and a new bubble is going on then this is a very short sided thought process from a penny pinching school that has zero problem soaking its students. Everything they do is on the cheap and just like it's past coaching hires it's going to bite them in the you know what.
Many of the reasons why we aren't renewing our football and hoops season tickets

IMG_0329.JPG I know I've harped on this before, but look out dead horse.

Google image search any MAJOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL schools' stadium. Bama, Ohio state, Michigan, ucla, USC, notre Dame and countless others have benches. Some have troughs. None have a roof. Many of which are pushing 80-90 years old (yes I know there have been upgrades) and the Dome we frequent is a whopping 37 years old? If anyone suggested replacing notre Dame's stadium they'd be hanged in front of town hall.
Who the hell are we to say we aren't coming because of the seats? We have an amazing venue that is my favorite place to be outside of the comfort of my own home.
I would love upgrades, but I'll never stop going. If it makes you feel any better, think how far the Dome has come since day one.

You may not care about concessions but many people do, especially the fringe fan that is there more for the experience than the actual game. SU's concessions are laughably bad when compared with most other arenas that I have been to.

College venues? Been to enough to know that SU is pretty much in the middle with football and the backcourt thing in hoop makes it awesome for that.

Since we don't have a sarcasm font, I have to ask...really? You are not renewing tickets because of the locker room in the dome isn't modern enough? The potential product on the field is not enough to get you excited?
I won't answer for the poster but my reasoning is because Syracuse refuses to fully support its programs. Personlly I like the dome and could care less about amenities but the non diehard fan does care. The diehard fan would show up no matter what, the other 30k won't. As for my comment about supporting its programs. The Ipf was built on a small budget and came way too late. Look no further then Dino's they didnt know video. It was a great moment but over shadowed by people commenting about the saw type dungeon of a locker room. Recruits compare amenities and want the best possible when they decide on a school. Without recruits you aren't winning and without winning you won't have fans. Also for the comment about notre dame. Their locker rooms are a huge upgrade over ours and last we forget su in not nd osu or USC

how about we approach the oneida nation to build a facility that they own and operate and we and the state and county rent from them, or they loan su the money to do it.part of the deal would free tuition, room and board for all students from their nation for life. package deals of football and transportation to all casinos free show tickets etc etc.
why not??? sure it would be unprecedented, but what the heck. i know most will think i am way out there, but in this day and age anything would be possible. really at this point what does anyone care what the ncaa thinks.
the oneida nation onviously knows what they are doing and how to make money. i bet they would do a fantastic job of running a facility.
go ahead, you can make fun now:)
Yes, in this day and age anything is possible...with the exception of SU treating it's athletics teams and facilities like they are a priority in any way shape or form.

Sad, very sad and unfortunate.

Nobody is actively calling any of those stadiums "DUMPS" in the media each and every year. And they have been refurbished, most of them several times in their lifespan. Many with modern amenities and concessions.

We get rollaway craft beer bar carts and a new field basically in 37 years.

The Dome is an uncomfortable venue for the fan. A September football game feels like Louisiana in July. And even in premium seating you are packed in like sweaty sardines. I would like to go to a football game without having to touch thighs with EdfromSodus for 3 hours. No offense Ed.

And the locker rooms are 3rd world. There are high schools with better game day locker rooms than us. Walking in there should be a big deal. Inner sanctum.

I gather most of the people crapping on the programs haven't taken a tour of Manley, Melo and the IPF within the last 6 months.
Nobody is crapping on the programs.

People are crapping on the Dome and the whole issue of the roof, announcements of refurbishment, $250 million budgets and the inability of the administration to look beyond the next kick of the can down the road.

Was fired up when they announced it, now I'm just pissed and really really disappointed. Thought this school was taking the next step up the ladder to actually be and act like a P5 Big Time D1 program, now just got kicked in the nuts.

Awesome! Can't wait for the season to start! So pumped now.

To be fair, we've had two new fields since Coach P.

Interesting. Hopefully this will provide some details about the dome. Which is long overdue.

Not sure how to take this? Are you implying new info is coming or are you implying here is how to donate my lotto winnings? Or both?

I was told SU admin certainly wants to do a new roof, lights, sound and seats but funding was cut once NYS had to back out of the deal because of the COR bid process disaster and the resulting federal investigation of the Cuomo admin. This is why I heard the fabric roof option is now back on the table as a serious option.

Has something changed lately?

Looks like SU is seeking donations to replace the funding from Albany.

They are waiting until they reach a certain funding "threshold" before making a public announcement about the remodeling.

I received this email today.
Also I have heard the same as OX regarding a funding threshold being reached before any announcement.

Was just about to post that the donation e-mails have started to go out. Looks like everyone beat me to the punch.

Somebody help Toga find his checkbook. ;)
I'd be more inclined if I hadn't recently received a letter from the SUAD dated November 2015 and sent to an address I lived at 7 years ago. The letter referenced the leadership of Mark Coyle. Alrighty then.

New fields are like a roof on your house. If it needs to be replaced, you replace it but it doesn't make your house worth any more. Cause a roof is kinda a necessity.

Academics on the Hill have a lot of sway. Doesn't help that they are fiercely anti-athletics especially in a time where SU is in the red (thanks Nancy).

If they haven't already, the athletic department needs to allocate a portion of revenue generated and ACC contracts strictly for the Dome renovation. It is odd that SU, doesn't have big time boosters or donors given how many successful and notable alumni they push out there.

The donors have a say in where they want their money spent.
