future grad transfers

I am not sure what people are getting worked up over regarding Howard v. Gillon. Neither look good right now. One may be better in certain matchups as opposed to others. In this game, they both struggled -- but Howard had no business being in this game -- at all.

Who was "the guy" when we pummeled every team we faced in 11-12?
I think it's perfectly fine that we do not have a go to guy! It just means we have to run efficient offense and the coaches need to adjust and see what gives us the best chance to produce an open look in the half court. We create zero open looks in the half court. That's a fact. This team is BEYOND capable talent-wise to produce an open look on majority of half court possessions... It's coaching right now. Flat out truth

I can't help but think you'd be the same person complaining if we used these 2 schollys on 3 star recruits and making posts about "we should have gotten 5th year grad transfers instead!"

the grass is always greener
i'd rather take 3 star recruits that are freshman than 3 star grad transfers that played at loser programs.

I don't debate that Howard won't be good for us down the road.

Last year he was awful, I think his skills were very overrated.

They hype built up over the summer.

He comes in, does average or slightly above against bad teams.

Two games against solid teams (these are not GREAT teams we played) and he doesn't show up and looks bad at every aspect of the game.

He's just not at the point where 90% of this board thinks he is and it's shown the past two games.
Well, I like Howard more, still like Gillon don't get me wrong. I'm interested in seeing how many people prefer Gillon over Howard. You may very well be seeing something I'm not though. A part of me wants to see the young guards; Battle and Howard play more and improve, and use Gillon as more of a spark plug. I trust my trusty friend Jim Boeheim to make the right decision though.

AW3 was going to the leading returner scorer in the B10 this year.

You guys have to chill. We lost 3 of our 4 best players and added 5 new players. You act like we can come in and beat teams that have played together for years. The chemistry will get there, it just isn't there yet.

I agree. I love DC's chance to produce an open look or draw a foul with 4 shooters spread out around him. He has a nice touch and uses his body well. Teams will have to collapse on him. He is good enough to make a pass to the perimeter

Though I don't disagree, I would like to see a 5th-year senior be able to use both hands around the rim. Doing so would make him even more effective.

so white and gillon combined for 77 minutes today. they went 7-25 and combined for 25 points (4-12) from 3. from what I could tell white made his first two threes than missed his last 6. for some reason the box score only shows one turnover between them, but that seems to be an anomaly probably because white plays hot potato with the ball and gillon kept getting blocked. we haven't beaten a high major since these two dudes joined the program. no more. if we are going to suck, at least play battle and Roberson. these two dudes are a joke, if we are going to lose, at least go down with actual SU players and not these 5th year mercs from loser programs that are trash with the bright lights on.

Dayummmmmm. Shots fired!

Andrew white and john gillon with another gem tonight. a 60+ minute 2-13 for 7 point stinker. Andrew white has to be the worst 30+ minute guy I have ever seen in a Syracuse uniform. the guy literally can't do anything besides shoot wide open threes against mid majors. any minute he plays the rest of this season is literally boeheim quitting, the dude is that bad. play battle and Roberson, bench white and maybe we can grit out a few acc wins. playing white we might go 0-18.

White's covered in Teflon, amazing that he does stuff like throw that atrocious pass short of Howard and Frank's the one who gets benched and chewed out.
yeah I saw that too. he continually puts players in a bad position on offense because he is a terrible ballhandler and passer, and then the other guys get yanked. I am a JB apologist, but I have no idea what the hell he is doing this year. the benching Roberson for white was a colossal error that might have tanked our season before Christmas.

Louisville seemed to make it work with grad transfers last year. Not sure why ours are an absolute joke.

I mean I do, because in no way, shape or form should we have a sub 6 foot point guard running zone unless they're a lottery pick talent.

My question is how the *** did White score for Nebraska? Dude is literally useless at anything other than shooting wide open threes in low pressure games.

Did he have better guards getting him the ball? I honestly don't know but curious.

We should only take players from teams that also play zone if that's the defense we are going to continue to run. These guys just aren't getting the rotations well enough for us to compete.

it's way more than that. I don't think our staff actually scouted these guys. gillon just got circles ran around him by st.john's NYC waterbug guards, and i'm too tired to parse out white's season last year but it is easy to see that he lit up some bad big ten teams and stunk in many other games in a losing season. i'm not even that mad about gillon as a depth player. white pisses me off like crazy because he toyed with the staff, showed up at the last minute, and is straight trash. he is what he is, but it bothers me more that the staff got took for this ride, and it makes me question what the hell they are doing in terms of player evaluation, especially when you factor in the recent misses and combined with the players they recruited heavily and then ran off in order to bring in these two stooges.
