George McDonald is absolutely terrible

They were playing backups late in the game... I don't know much about ND's defense so I couldn't tell ya. All I know is people seem to overreact when we lose and overreact when we win... stay level-headed.

They noted during the broadcast how short handed Maryland was all game on d. I admit I am down on the program. It's been a hard slog for too many years now. Nova made me realize we are still stuck. Things like not being able to get a yard, fake fgs... Cmu was a mirage. We are seriously going to struggle this year.

And 7 of those 24 were because of the blocked punt which gave Maryland a short field.

Wrs are better. Rbs are far better. Golson is on another level than md qb. It's a nightmare matchup for us. He's elusive and when he looks to scramble the throws deep.

14 points were squandered. 7 on the holding call on Foy that wiped out Hunt's run and the pick 6 which came as a result of a stupid (and I do mean stupid) mistake by Hunt. Flemming would have been open on the double move for a TD.

So, that would have been 31-27 without the garbage time TD. Norton missed a chip shot accounting for another 3.

We had 2 turn overs and a blocked punt (just like a TO) and they had none.

We didn't lose this game on play calling, we lost it on D, execution / turn overs.

Our receivers put no fear into anyone. Everyone talks about how good Ismail is but I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he can beat people deep. He dropped a a ball on the five yard line after Broyd dropped a slant for an easy touchdown. The only guys who consistently catch balls in their area are West and Lewis and they don't scare anyone. Our backs are average. There were about four plays today where if we had an explosive back they would have long touchdown runs. They play and run hard, but don't have that extra step that can take it to the house. The 90 yard swing pass for a td today from Maryland today was all speed. I don't think we have a back on this team who could make that play. We still are a long way from having special talent on offense.

Hunt is not accurate enough with the ball to play that game and for Gosh sake please never ever again throw a bubble screen to Custis. Run the ball to set up the pass we really could have rushed for 500 today if he had just pounded them but he gets too play station. If Lester calls this game we win going away

Excuses. The playcalling didn't play to Hunt's strengths and put this team in a position to fail. 3rd and 25 and SU calls a draw play to just punt in the 4th quarter. COME ON MAN! Yes all of that is true the players made mistakes as almost all players do. What we can not afford is an OC who's play calling kills drives as McDonald did on the second drive of the first half, and several other drives during the game. As a coach he should being help enable the offense not continually calling stupid drive killing plays.
We were running the ball down their throats throughout the game yet he kept calling stupid low gain high risk bubble screens at the worst times, that killed several promising drives.
I can live with some player errors, but I can not accept the coaching ineptitude!

The 2nd and 25 call was absurd but McDonald can't make WRs catch passes or Hunt be somewhat accurate and stop throwing over and behind everyone. His offense put up about 600 yards today with all that bs. He can't stop players for committing stupid penalties in big spots -Hunt-Parris. He can't stop players from having no clue what's going on and throwing a pick six or make Norton hit on a 25 yard FG. I blame coaching for today but there is one guy responsible for discipline and focus and that's Shafer.
