Georgetown Gameday...

I get that Kuczyinski made a boneheaded play, but he’s a kid that has made a career out of being physical and it was a bang-bang play, but are we not going to talk about how stupid our coaches (adults) must be to have 1 week to come up with game plan in which they decide not play Anderson in the 1st quarter?! That’s inexcusable, and one of the worst coaching decisions I’ve ever seen. Not everyone needs to be as big of an Anderson fan as I am (I was pleading for the coaches to play him more last year), but how do we not even play him in the entire 1st quarter? He has the highest shooting percentage of any of our main offensive players on the team! (2nd is Thomson but almost all of his goals are assisted shots right from the crease). Anderson can shoot at a high percentage (with both hands), can pass, can dodge and get an unassisted goal, and can dodge and draw a slide and then get the hockey assist. I think he’s one of the best players on our team to do all 4 of those things, and our coaches bench him? We’re lucky that he seems like a good kid and a team-first kid because that’s the kind of coaching decision that makes a kid lose confidence and then transfer… He’s a future All American, and the only thing holding him back is our coaches. He needs More touches, not a benching! Coaches- just put your best players on the field, and then stay out of their way…
the fact he came in soon after the 2nd q started may not be a coincidence. team rules, etc. possibly.
someone also noted in warmups he had to come out of them for a bit.

Sounds like he was serving a team punishment.

Not sure what the deal is with the first quarter, but Anderson had a fantastic game. Totallly owned the short stick matchup out of the box, had the righty shot going, also had that insane skip pass for the Leo goal at the end of the shot clock. He has been great the last three games.

Chuck is for sure Suspended from Duke and I wouldn't be shocked if it's longer, that said I think Kicking him off the team or anything is also extreme.

chuck K not smart move clearly n prob def missing duke game which is just not good. But yes to kick him off or anything else is just crazy. Not like kid was purposely trying to hurt someone. He really just got his elbow to neck which is bad but wasn’t outrageous to me. Still dumb n no need for that at that point of game. Just stupid n will totally be felt next game vs duke. But no need to punish kid more then missing a game already.

Not kicking him off, maybe study hall for a week.

Seriously, it was a BAD foul. NOT a bang-bang play. Really stupid.

He will only be suspend for Duke, would be shocked if it was anything beyond that.
Ok, this is admittedly the first time I have ever seen a player ejected(the 2024 Colgate Headlock maybe should have been, but it wasn't) , so I didn't quite know how long that would likely be.

I will not stop it. He’s absolutely one of the best feeders we have ever had. JeremyCuse Powellfan
I only go back to the 80's. Tim Nelson, John Zulburti, Paul Gait, Gary Gait, Rob Kavovit, Casey Powell, Ryan Powell, Liam Banks, Mike Powell and Im probably forgetting a few. Joey is a very good player, but if you watched syracuse lacrosse prior to 2012, you wouldnt have him as the best feeder.

The thing is, it's a very chaotic season. There's no clear number 1 and the field is wide open. So, from that perpsective, I can understand a wide variety in pollsters' opinions and rankings. But at this point, as you think about how to rank teams (which is admittedly arbitrary and somewhat pointless), you've got to start using some methodology to understand the field. Rankings can't be purely reactionary, and you've got to keep an eye on the big picture. And this is my problem with Terry's rankings - they feel very reactionary and there seems to be no consistent application of rationale.

He's got Harvard at number 1 - ok. If that's the case - Cuse should be ranked higher seeing as their only losses were on the road to his number 1 team and another of his top 10 teams. Cuse has 7 wins over teams in his top 20, I don't feel like counting, but does anyone else have more? But Harvard only has 2 wins over teams in his top 20. Notre Dame has more with three.

Princeton loses a tight game to Cornell and he drops them 6 to 10 even though they have more top 10 wins in his rankings than anyone else. Penn St seems completely unpunished despite having 2 losses to teams outside of his top 20.

He's clearly gotten his top 4 as the undefeated teams (minus SHU) but Duke has only 2 victories over teams in his top 20. Again - Cuse has 7! OSU has only 3 by a combined 4 goals. They haven't scored double digit goals since February. So their undefeated records push them up but PSU's 3 losses don't push them down?

At some point your records have to matter - as much as I want the Georgetown and MD wins to look good for Cuse, they're barely moving in his rankings following losses week after week.

Alright, that's my rant for the day, will save more of those thoughts for when more polls come out tomorrow :)

Unless a suspension is mandated by some kind of rule, if I was the coach, he would not be missing the next game. He served his penalty during the game today.
