Georgetown Gameday...

Honestly i rather get little disrespect in the polls. As feel players do look at them n feel they play little better when not getting any love rather then when they do. Seems in any of the few times we had high ranks we lost right after. So let them keep looking down on us n hopefully team if do see take it personally n it lights fire to prove them wrong.

Plus do have few top 20 wins. But to go with those wins we really could use a top 10 win or two. They have to beat uva/colgate, don’t think can not win those games n hope for a high seed. On top of that gotta least take down duke or unc or ND if not 2. That give multiple top 20 wins n least 1-2 top 10 wins possible even top 5 win. Def no matter gotta take 1 out of duke, unc,nd. Think taking 2 of those 3 even no matter result of acc tounry. Think would almost be certain to be top 4 seed. Either way Syracuse as few years before hold their own destiny in their hands. Keep winning n path to your goal be little easier.

I dont get the Ohio State love (other than Terry's from Ohio).
I only go back to the 80's. Tim Nelson, John Zulburti, Paul Gait, Gary Gait, Rob Kavovit, Casey Powell, Ryan Powell, Liam Banks, Mike Powell and Im probably forgetting a few. Joey is a very good player, but if you watched syracuse lacrosse prior to 2012, you wouldnt have him as the best feeder.

Statistically, he is already ahead of all those players, except Nelson, who appears to be in a class above.

Assists per game might be a more accurate measure. The number of games played per year has varied considerably.

They definitely play more games now, but it's pretty comparable because most of those guys played for teams that made deep tourney runs every season.

Here's a link to the record book. https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/...tory_and_Records.pdf?timestamp=20260204092912

Page 106 is a helpful quick reference. Hopefully Joey ends up playing 73 games (he's at 62 right now with w/ 165 assists). Mike Powell played 66. Zullberti is a pretty good comp. He had 158 assists in 60 games.

To appease those that want Chuck Kuczynski kicked off the team and his family deported back to Poland (has to be Polish with that last name) - a more appropriate punishment would be to make him rewatch every Syracuse men's basketball game from this year from start to finish between now and the UNC game...he may just quit the team instead.

Id hope the fact that he's not allowed to even be at the game as a spectator does as much for him as it did for me when I get suspended from marching band. It really helped me put everything in perspective and get me to make actual change.

Hypothetically, how does one go about getting suspended from the Marching Band?

Ugh what? Sarcasm I hope
His post was a quote from Happy Gilmore.

I shouted a bunch of bad stuff and flipped off an opposing fan who was heckling me.

Not my proudest moment for sure.

Well, if the opposing fan was rooting for Georgetown or Ped State, I'd say that band member was totally justified and should be exonerated!

Really hard to compare eras … in the thirty years from 1980 to 2009 there were only five schools that won the National championship: Syracuse (11), Princeton (6), Hopkins (6), Carolina (4), and Virginia (3).

In the fifteen years from 2010 to 2025, nine programs have won … with Hopkins, Cuse and Princeton combining for ZERO during that stretch.

The talent was very concentrated in the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s and then it changed. Dominant teams often generate dominant stats. It takes nothing away from the greatness of those players in those eras nor does it diminish players in this era. It does make stats a poor tool to measure relative greatness.

All that said, Joey is a great passer. Nelson was insane.

Well, if you had told me prior to the season that Syracuse would beat Georgetown by six goals, you probably could have knocked me over with a feather. If you had said we'd still be upset by that outcome, I'm not sure what's lighter than a feather, but that would do the knocking over.

I know this isn't the Georgetown team we thought it would be, but it's still a great result with lots of positives. Easy to focus on the negatives, but still there was a lot to like. Offense looks incredibly varied with lots of different pieces that can break down a defense. They have shifty quick players, they have brute strength, they outside shooting, they have inside finishers, they have dodgers, they have good passers. I'm not saying they are perfect by any stretch, but the pieces are there right now. This offense really looks like it's cooking.

I know Coach Odierna likes the defense to play with an edge to it, and he's said things in the past (not a direct quote), but essentially, he'd rather have his team be over aggressive than under. I think that works most of the time, as the defense I think has really intimated a number of opponents the last few years, but there obviously needs to be a line they cannot cross. The Chuck K hit was really bad. All I can is I hope it's a teaching moment and it doesn't happen again.

Defense I thought was pretty good yesterday overall, though they did get caught ball watching a number of times. Luckily McCool was there to bail them out. He's been really good this season and hopefully he gets the credit he deserves when all is said and done.

Hopefully a performance like this is one the team can learn from, and take the positives into the next game. Go 'Cuse.

Really great points. Good perspective on the offense. There were long stretches yesterday where it really seemed like they were playing to their potential. Maybe even moreso than the Maryland game. Always need to keep working to put that performance out for a full game but it was much closer to a full game of offensive dominance than we've seen most of this season against quality opponents.

The zone slowed them down a little but I think that was mostly attributable to the lack of time of possession especially in Q4. They had moments were they clearly diced the zone, but just couldn't really get into a rhythm late with limited touches.

Defense continues to be strong 1v1. Georgetown beat them with a lot of passes inside and dunks from the doorstep. McCool has a great game but those are hard to stop. Just lost their men or slid too aggressively at times. Again, didn't really affect the outcome of this game but something to keep in mind prepping for some teams coming up. Defense also looked pretty gassed late.

All that to say, it was a really dominant performance that shows from a performance perspective, the team is moving in the right direction. Still gotta get their heads on straight. No need to gift teams momentum and opportunities.

Cuse has put themselves in a very strong position for a playoff game in the Dome. Gotta take care of business in the ACC. Would really love to stay away from Princeton for as long as possible in the bracket . . .

Dan is a good guy, but I really do not get the weird obsession lax twitter has with our dome vs non-dome results. This number is skewed mainly from us torching St. Joes by 18 gs in our second game and their first of the season. The 6 road games were a gauntlet with two top 5 opponents out for playoff revenge from last year, and 5 of 6 opponents in the top 15 of the current polls. To have a positive goal differential of any kind in that stretch is impressive! But these twitter guys are trying to make it seem like we are just good at home.

It was 6 freaking games in a row on the road. How many other teams have had to deal with that? How many would walk away with only 2 losses to top 5 teams? Maybe we are good on the road too. Maybe we are just a good team no matter where the game is!

The undisciplined penalties have become a mainstay for the team under Gait. It seems no matter the situation (tight game, losing, leading), we are always one step away from a dumb foul. It seems like the team (especially the defense) has built their identity around being physical, but that style requires a lot of discipline. Full time served penalties can sink your chances in a tournament game.

These TLN gentlemen I give a slight pass, since I am pretty sure they are legitimately not the sharpest tools in the shed. I don’t think they are true haters, just guys who want clicks and realize chirping cuse will get you some clicks. But is insane how many likes they can get on this simplified crap. They also predicted Cuse would lose against GTown, Denver, and Hop. Might be time to turn that brain on and realize cuse is better than you think boys!

Now let's do ALL teams home vs. away. I'm sure no other team in the country does better at home than away like Cuse does, right Dan?

Exactly! And some of our better wins the last couple years have been out of the dome. And some of our worst losses have also been in the dome! Last year the Princeton win and the acc tourney were all out of the dome and the Harvard and demoralizing UNC loss were both in it. And two of our road losses last year were to the literal #1 and #2 teams in the country who ended the year in the finals. It is just a tired narrative that has very little legs when you break it down.

Agreed/What you said plus the weather. Let's be honest, the writer left out the perfect weather inside the Dome and the less than perfect weather in that six game stretch. No bones about it, the team has to play where they play, but playing in good weather is an advantage most teams prefer because bad weather will mess with everyone's timing, footwork, cuts, etc.

Who doesn’t play better at home? They have played one game that they got legitimately beat. Harvard was a 50/50 and pretty much a blown game
