He was wiling to ruin his reputation and burn down the program so he could coach his sons, and that's exactly what he did,

Kent was afraid of the negative publicity of firing Boeheim. Kent is a little girl not a leader,

What? Did you miss the “and?” You work a job as long as you want AND are allowed to. That’s literally what having a job is.

To the second point, it sounds like your beef should be with Kent, no? JB didn’t hold the program hostage. Fans would have been ultimately ok with a firing around 2019. You can’t be a CEO or Chancellor and get bullied by Directors or sports ball coaches.

Watch USF play, watch tape of his team at Ark state. Listen to the interviews and look back to the teams Oats had with BH at his side. Hes been on an upward trajectory without setbacks for a while both in recruiting and results for a longer period of time.

Then look at the metrics multiple folks have shared in this thread. There is a very solid case behind him as a coach and recruiter. Also he’s been part of multiple teams that he helped build up to meet new heights consistently going from an assistant to now a HC.

You can’t look at all that and not come away with a number of reasons he’s a great option unless you are firmly biased against someone who isn’t from the SU family or someone who has been a P4 head coach for a decade already like a Chris Mack for example. Add onto the fact that pulling in a guy like the Iowa state coach would be very expensive and even someone like Mack has some flaws even with his resume.

Ok, thx. Haven't seen them play. Did look at his W/L record and wasn't that impressed. Will look at some highlights.

If nothing else, it's a conflict of interest. As you said, he's not SUPPOSED to have any part in the selection process.

I'll simplify.

Go do a quick google search the programs that are looking to hire Schertz, Hodgson, Gmac and then Hopkins.

I've put them in order. Serious programs are looking at Schertz and Hodgson, Gmac is getting calls from BC and GT, and Hopkins well i'm not sure who is calling him except he's making promises to get bankrolled by some millionaires.

When you get outside of CNY and look nationally you start seeing the difference in prospects the coaches have.

We're all huge Gmac fans. I can still say that I think down the road he would be a great coach here not but not this year. Bringing us out of a tailspin in the ACC is goign to take new blood.

JB isn’t sharing insider information. He’s the equivalent of the mailroom clerk saying, “Idk, I think Brad would be a cool CEO.”

He’s not in a position of power and not part of the selection process.

If the ex ceo of Xbox was still employed by Microsoft, and during an interview said that xbox just doesn't have the resources to put out a product that would compete with Playstation, I'd expect that person to be fired.

Exactly, This crazy talk about how we have to get him now after one game. Cuz he won a MaaC tourney and punched a ticket. Also sidenote while having the largest NIL in the conference and the best player.

Hell if Hodgson had a heart attack and died on the court next season we could call Gmac and line him up the next day. Sure he might cost a little more but he would answer the call.

Gmac and Melo were a year younger than me at Cuse we ain't that old yet. There's still plenty of time.

Also for what it's worth I think it might be time to let a new coach start some new relationships with former players the same way Fran is. Get in and get a staff and guys setup then bring in the old players to get involved. It shouldn't be this quid pro quo thing which seems like a game Hopkins is playing.

Not that I expect this to change any minds and I'm just yelling into the void, but it certainly looks like the AAC is tougher this year and the MAAC is a bunch of not good teams with this season being slightly better. And to reiterate, this is the best team by the metrics in USF's history and Hodgson could set the record for most wins this season with 2 more. Gerry has Siena's 9th best season by wins and it's their 32nd best season by SRS.

Don’t care what was asked, don’t need to listen to form my opinion. Because even if the question was a sledgehammer “Do you think Gerry will get bigger offers this offseason”? - the correct answer would be “I don’t know, I was never in the business of hiring coach because I was too busy being one. But Gerry’s a great coach, I expect he’ll have continued success and will get bigger opportunities - if not this year then soon”.

I realize there is absolutely no way JB would ever take that approach. But that’s why I would be thrilled if he would just stop giving interviews.

Not sure why you think Boeheim should have no opinion on Gerry getting bigger offers.

That’s one way to look at it, but if Syracuse is really good again. They’ll be making A LOT of money. Probably very few if any jobs can outpace when that happens. See UConn with Dan Hurley.
