Gerry Staff Predictions…

I disagree. how athletic does JJ and Donnie lookoffensively and then watch them get blown bye defensively. Its pure effort. Defense is hard because u have to grind thru it. offense is fun defense is gritty and tiring with little reward except winning. Red couldnt grt them to try. He is too nice. i woulda sat them until they decided to try on both sides of the floor. Gmac will either get them to play hard or ass meets bench as Mr. Knight used to say.
Hard to do that now when you paid them millions of dollars. I agree unfortunately some players seem not to care once they get the money.

He should hire Jim Boeheim as recruiting coordinator lol

Yeah!! Let’s get this young go-getter out on the road!!

Doty was out of Sienna one way or another after this season. Somebody would have offered him a bag he could not resist.
AW has been paying Doty's bag and had planned to continue to do so at Siena. Doty himself thanked AW in a tweet for all his support after they made the NCAAT.
Rumor is as well that he came up with 200K for Moeschs bag.
I think many are sleeping on Moesch. He was 14th ranked pg in nation by 247 when he signed with
Siena last year. Guy has game, very fast, can score from anywhere, can break down defenses, very good passer. Same attitude as Doty.
Only knock is he is only 5 10 I believe but did very well at Cushings up in Mass these last 2 years.

Imagine he will be a backup PG for Cuse initially.

Here is a little information on Moesch.

They tried. Our defense was not consistent but it was not the problem. Our offensive efficiency was the problem. It stunk. As Devo and others noted, when we fell behind we could not shoot our way back. Red misjudged talent and therefore mis-allocated minutes. For example, JJ played for two different coaches and was always inefficient. Was that also Brey's fault?

The irony is that for years posters complained about JB's short bench. Bench JJ, shorten the bench, give most sf minutes to White, Kingz sg, and we would have had a decent team.

This right here would be a nice change up.

It’s been huge for a number of programs doing well right now like Illinois for example. The overseas guys we have pulled have played big roles in the past as well. Would be a very smart play with filling out a roster and adding guys that play hard and are fundamentally sound.

Gerry's staff can make or break his career. It's so important he doesn't just hire people he knows or Syracuse people and is very intentional about who he gets. This will tell us a lot.
He is going to surround himself with only the best and most serious people.

I hope he does. I hope first he gets an elite offensive mind and elite defensive mind to contribute to the overall scheme, instead of purely thinking in terms of position coaches. Then for the rest of the 5 total think more about position coach effectiveness and an ace recruiter (although NIL does the heavy lifting). A big time GM too.

I really hope Gmac brings over the same principles on Subs and Minutes. Obvi Sienna was plagued with injuries but from what I can tell his Backcourt just does not come out of the game much. 2 guards at 35+ mins a game.

It's really hard to run a solid offense when it's musical chairs with your guards. Also may be biased after the last few years trainwreck but I really want to see our lineups shortened to 7 guys. If we want to play 9-10 guys against cupcakes when we're up by 30 then cool but when it gets real we need to be running our best 7 guys.

Maybe getting a single assistant with P5 experience would be a good idea, but what do I know.
One of Gerry’s assistants/advisors this season (or the previous season) was Brian Beaury a college head coach who had a record of over 600 wins.

Brian Beaury is a legendary college basketball coach, primarily known for his tenure at The College of Saint Rose, where he earned over 640 wins in a 33-year career. Currently serving as a Special Assistant at Siena College, he was a long-time head coach with 14 NCAA tournament appearances, three Elite Eight trips, and one Final Four appearance
