Girard needs to come off bench

Well it’s not just his shooting. His defense and his lack of hustle is a problem. Also taking 35 foot shots with 25 sec on shot clock is an issue

Unfortunately a three point specialist that is 32% from behind the arc for his college career. Painful to watch him casually launch those 25 footers.

Agreed. It seems like he lacks the conditioning and stamina. That’s why I say short minutes for now off the bench

Gotta keep him until he gets hot, can't do that bringing someone off the bench. It's the key to good guard play. Play shooters till they get hot! You don't need defense if you don't waiver in that philosophy. Or something.

I think if he comes in and makes one and looks energetic you keep him in. No way he should start next game

He’s missing short on everything. He needs a reality check on his shot selection. I understand as a shooter you want to be aggressive, but not when you are slumping and have no legs.

Yeah the data is the data. He made some nice passes tonight but the shot selection is poor and even when they are good looks, they aren’t going in consistently enough. I expect him to get in shape as we progress but clearly we need a 4 guard rotation up top.

What pisses me off is that we are the better more talented team and we lost. Jimmy is a HOF coach, but his stubbornness is as old as he is and he's losing games he wouldn't have years ago. Not playing our bench in the 2nd half is a primary reason for us losing this game. We had tired guys who with a regular substitution pattern would have been fresh and finished plays on both ends of the court.

Eh, we had zero option other than JGIII at pg last year and .324 for a true frosh who's logging huge minutes and functioning as the primary ball-handler isn't bad. The bigger issue for me is the hustle/activity/quickness piece that we haven't seen this year. I think ultimately he can shoot but it's tough to shoot 40% in this offense, especially as the PG, b/c we don't create looks for these guys. At the end of the day, regardless, really rough start on both ends for Girard.

I just don’t agree. I think he’s a terribly inefficient scorer and I’d point to the four games he’s had this year even that’s been a continuation of last year.

Kid had the greenest of green lights in a lower class high school and seems like he’s never broken out of that mindset.

his defense has always been bad. Giving him credit for being active, even if it’s essentially in vain, is a pretty low bar, imo.
