Going to miss Jimmy when he is gone

We have the Tarheels in the Dome tomorrow night for the biggest game of the season and all people want to do is regurgitate the past or day dream about what may or may not happen in the future? If this was a UCONN game from 10 years ago everyone here would be off the hook with anticipation and that really helps the atmosphere and the team. Focus on the task at hand (Steven Wright/Halfbaked) and let's get a W over Roy and UNC.
Who's to say we aren't excited about the game tomorrow? I can't wait! Does that mean we can't talk about the past and current state of the team, coaches, etc? We aren't in the same place we were ten years ago as a program, so its also not a fair comparison. Personally, I critique all the teams I am a fan of, doesn't mean I'm not excited or never positive.

Year after year of bubble talk is offensive to me. And yes, if he's got a top 10 recruiting class, and returning players like we expect, and we are only 7-7 in ACC play, it's time to start the search process.

Ok..we can just agree to disagree on that...

I would never want this for the program (ie. for myself as a fan) but it would be amusing to see JB get fired for a .500 season in the ACC next year, hire a McAdoo and watch this program head south faster than wildings breaching the wall...

just to see what everyone who was so anxious to escort JB out the door would be posting...

GROB was "down"..06-08 weren't really down...they were down from elevated heights...we pull a Pitt...now that is down...
Football is different than Basketball.
85 scholarships vs. 13.

Football the administration let our facilities become pathetic and Coach P couldn’t bring in the talent.
Moving on from Coach P wasn’t the worst decision. Hiring a career coordinator who was fired from where he had the most success Denver Broncos and had elite talent at Texas was the wrong decision. Doctor Gross listened to Pete Caroll and it backfired.

If Gross hired Bo Pelini the other finalist or John Harbaugh who wanted the job I doubt the program craters. GRob also did recruit some good talent his problem was his top 6 recruits were really good but recruits 7-25 were sub par P5 players.

Basketball Syracuse will be fine because one recruiting class can turnaround a program.

Not much difference between o6-08 and 15-18 (aside from that Final Four).

I agree but I'm not the one with the expectations.

I am fine with where the program is and I am fine with who our coach is and I have zero interest in seeing him leave.

Until JB starts going 10-20 and 1-15 in the ACC, he can coach until he is 100 as far as I'm concerned.

Think Pitt fans wish Dixon was their coach right now?

Just be careful what you wish for. You may get it.

Agree, but also think we have structural advantages that will prevent us from spiraling. The ACC, talent within 4-5 hours of campus, a fan base that may erode somewhat but can easily be activated. We saw that recently after "down" years from the 06, 07 and o8 seasons to explode again in popularity and excitement.

I agree, to an extent. But there's a big difference between a couple 13-loss years and NITs and the potential floor under a new coach. If we have the wrong guy, a losing record isn't out of the realm of possibility. Once in those uncharted waters, I wonder how fast the school can claw back the fans. Broader trends could affect this, too. Seems like a lot of schools are struggling with student interest and attendance. Maybe after a couple really bad seasons they just don't come back. There's a lot of uncertainty after Boeheim. I hope the new guy can recruit and is a decent tactician. If so, what you reference will help keep everything chugging along.

Just stop while you are behind.
Let’s start with the obvious.

When it comes to college basketball, JB is the credible source and you are not, nor are any the small group of fellow whiners that “like” what you have to say.

On every subject, he is right and you are wrong. He has credibility and you have none.

You are a single voice in the wild, complaining when things don’t go your way.

In my opinion, SU and SU basketball would be better off without you and the other critics self-styled experts.

Just so I make myself clear. I wouldn’t want you to be confused about where I am coming from.

Of course you will call me a sycophant and other names, but I’m just stating the obvious.

You just described how Joe Paterno kept his job for life.

Also I will ask you this question again name one time JB has been wrong on something.

I know you can do it.

Some of these "whiners" and self -styled critics, including myself, not only buy season tickets, but contribute $$ to the athletic department. You think SU basketball would be better off without us?

And therein lies the rub.

What makes you think Wildhack et al. are going to have some type of edge when it comes to choosing the "right" guy.

Indiana has been looking for the right guy for almost two decades. For every Villanova, there is a Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall, Providence, BC, UConn etc... a lot more "wrong guys" then "right guys".

Even those with the financial wherewithal to hire anyone they want, which we most certainly do not have, can hire the wrong guy and suffer the consequences. They, however, can afford to keep trying until they get it right. Can we?

What makes you so confident that finding the right guy, let alone being able to pay him, is not going to be problem?

Is there some sort of board award for clear, reasonable opinions on this board?

Because this is a breath of fresh air among all the wishful thinking and people shading all the difficulties associated with major coaching transitions because JB was mean in press conferences.

On every subject?????? Alsacs is a top professional in his field. JB knows more about that than Alsacs does?

Whenever you would like to quote JB then, have at it. Otherwise you are just supposing his thoughts.
