Good bowl for Cuse

better than I thought and against a big 10 school too
Pretty much any bowl not named "The Pinstripe Bowl" I would have been happy with. Good to get to a different region of the country and get some exposure.

Friday night at 6pm...horrible TV night, horrible TV time but whatever. It's a bowl and 15 extra practices which is really what is important

I agree about the pinstripe thing. Very glad we didnt get that again

I looove the date and time slot. Friday night nothing going on. After work. I see no negatives

There's nothing horrible about a Friday night the week between Xmas and New Year's.

actually I think it's a great time, a lot of people should be hanging around after xmas and great time slot for fans to watch the game and get a few extra beers in at happy hour before it begins. Most people won't be out doing too much I think on that Friday Night.

It's a great time slot for the "SU FAN" and the "MINNESOTA FAN"...but it won't get the casual football fan or a national audience flipping through the channels to stop and watch. Because its a Friday night at an awful time. Most people on a Friday night (especially after a holiday) are out and about on the town. Or since 2 days after Christmas traveling back home. Not watching TV in general.

Not complaining about it. It is what it is and happy SU got a bowl. But just stating a fact

I don't know your age, but I am guessing you are older than 35. Friday night is out on the town night for the younger generation let's just call it

Well it works for this su fan! Thats all that matters to me!

So much better than Shreveport on NYE. Funny how BC's AD was trying to do everything to avoid that game and that's where they end up...love it.

SU should never let Frazier do another interview again.

Not at 6pm. Couldn't be a better time for a Friday. That younger crowd will go out at 9-10.

6 to 9 pm is not out on the town time. Is pre-game time.

Also, who works between Christmas and New Years? That's what vacation is for.

Going to be a better TV spot for the casual football fan than most of or other bowl options. (does the "casual football fan" who watches these bowl games even go out anyways?)

if you are a kid who goes out every night is a night to go out. if you are the avg cfball fan you are looking for games every night. most people under 30 when i was going out didnt go out until after 9-10 has that changed?

Hell no. It's a great time in fact for a 6-6 team. No other bowl games at that time, nor other sports programming at that hour. People hunkering down during a holiday weekend. Major network. Pretty damn good I'd say.

I think this worked out a lot better than I thought it would. I was viewing the idea of playing Marshall or North Texas as a necessary evil. As I said 6-6 teams, beggars not choosers. But I just hate the idea of playing a mid major in a bowl. Hate hate hate it.

We get a game between Christmas and New Year's, it's on a Friday night, team gets to go somewhere that (could very well be) warm, in a state of the art stadium. And we get to play a team from a power 5 conference???

Win win win win win. Excited.

Couldn't have been any better.

@slmandel: MT @slmandel: Syracuse-Minnesota in the Texas Bowl. If that's a Noon ESPN2 game on a ***September*** Saturday you mow the lawn.

Can't imagine what he thinks of the Baylor-UCF Fiesta Bowl.

And minny/wazzou etc is better?

Please, its a bowl game that's not the title game, it means nothing except to the teams playing and junkies.

By "most people on a friday night" you mean those that are 18-30...hardly "most". By the time 30 rolls around "most people" are chopped in half because "most people" have "families". After that the over 35 crowd doesnt go "out and about on the town". But they do go out for happy hours after work which generally is after 5:0o on a friday. Perfect bowl watching opportunity at the local establishment for a 6:00 pm start or for the majority of the casual fans who are home. Love the time slot!

Perfect game and time as I will be fishing all day in the Gulf of Mexico and drinking half the night. I admit, I will most likely be whipped, but who cares
