Good bowl for Cuse

I agree about the pinstripe thing. Very glad we didnt get that again

I looove the date and time slot. Friday night nothing going on. After work. I see no negatives

I have a noon tee time at sawgrass and don't want to hurry myself. Can that be considered a negative?

@slmandel: MT @slmandel: Syracuse-Minnesota in the Texas Bowl. If that's a Noon ESPN2 game on a ***September*** Saturday you mow the lawn.
Weird. It's exactly the type of game that gets televised at noon on espn2 in September. Did I miss the slate of top 10 matchups that typically fill that time slot?

I don't know your age, but I am guessing you are older than 35. Friday night is out on the town night for the younger generation let's just call it

Not at 6pm it's not. They young ins can watch the game, then go out afterward.

pretty sure that game was primetime on the Big10 Network a few years ago...

So much better than Shreveport on NYE. Funny how BC's AD was trying to do everything to avoid that game and that's where they end up...love it.

SU should never let Frazier do another interview again.

Between last Sunday and the Wagner "I called them and they told me this game counted" fiasco Herm should say no comment from now on.

So the game will be on in every bar in the country you mean? Horrible.

any Rutgers trolls want to tell us how how many ratings points that equals?

Friday night is the out on the town night for the younger crowd, but they normally don't start going out until 9-10 at night. With that being said they will be able to watch the game and then go celebrate the victory.

"Type" of game. Espn2 nooners are typically middle of the pack teams from big conferences.

It's a great time slot for the "SU FAN" and the "MINNESOTA FAN"...but it won't get the casual football fan or a national audience flipping through the channels to stop and watch. Because its a Friday night at an awful time. Most people on a Friday night (especially after a holiday) are out and about on the town. Or since 2 days after Christmas traveling back home. Not watching TV in general.

Not complaining about it. It is what it is and happy SU got a bowl. But just stating a fact

Great reasoning there. It will be the only thing on. If you want to watch FB, it's your only choice. It will be on every screen in every bar in the country.

As long as were not playing North Texas, I'm good. Pleasantly surprised with an 8-4 Minny and that we landed during happy hour on one of the crazier Friday nights all year.

this...right here you can see they want to improve the ratings on the game.

2.3 (3.5M)

Fri., 12/28/12Texas:
Texas Tech/MinnesotaESPN
2.9 (4.6M)
2.7 (3.9M)
2.7 (4.2M)
2.1 (3.2M)
Sat., 12/22/12Las Vegas:
Boise State/WashingtonESPN

.
Syracuse is a national brand

I'm curious - which of the other plausible bowl destinations would the Texas Bowl critics have preferred?

Someone should ask Stewie if Northwestern made it to a bowl this year.

Anyone criticizing where we wound up is either an idiot, an arsehole, a curmudgeon but probably the perfect blend of all 3. There are opinions and there is straight up lunacy

What. 6-6 versus a 8-4 Big 10 team in a great facility, on Dec 27th only game on at 6 eastern. Right after work and many people will already be home. Those two days will be the most non productive of the entire year

You give me way too much credit. I'm 31 and my partying these days is closer to a 90-year-0ld than my early-to-mid 20s.

Real Football Fans will play ready golf...and be back at the condo 30 mins prior to kickoff...not judging, just saying

Not to worry, Mark. All Syracuse-area golfers will be off the links before kick-off time.

Thought the same thing. I'm 29, and the thought of going out and partying on a Friday never even occured to me.
