I had a question about the portal when the player is a grad transfer.
Under the new transfer rule a player that transfers one time has immediate eligibility.
What about a player that already transferred and was given immediate eligibility and than transfers a second time but this time as a graduate transfer. Does he have to sit out a year or would he get another immediate eligibility opportunity now that he is transferring as a grad transfer?

Always thought the idea of a grad transfer was odd; how could someone not want to play for the school they went to and got their degree from?

The opportunity to better showcase themselves. Some of them also want to get a grad degree from somewhere else.

Or sometimes the school that they are at doesn’t offer the program that they want.

Just because they got their degree doesn’t mean they can play without going to school.

They still have to attend school and be actively working towards obtaining a degree

Fair question -- could be a variety of reasons. The most common is probably that they aren't getting PT at their current school, and want one last opportunity to play / start.

Goal was to reward student-athletes who performed in the classroom and graduated, freeing them to pursue greener pastures [under the rationale that it tied to pursuing graduate education] without sitting out a year like a normal transfer.
