Ive been a fan of this team for 25 years and one constant are the fans who try to act like "they know better" and they are "above the fray". They maintain that Syracuse and Syracuse fans deserve no better than mediocrity and that anyone who demands more is being unreasonable. That wanting a team loaded with NFL talent to compete for a national title was unreasonable in the 90s, that having a coach who knew how to tie his own shoes in the 00s was unreasonable, that, in 2019, having a program that isnt among the worst in a huge number of categories and can actually be at least mediocre following a 10 win season is unreasonable.

There's nothing unreasonable about asking your team to put out maximum effort, achieve what it is capable of, and sustain success for more than one year at a time. What that means in stats or numbers will be variable of course. But please...no more of this sad sack syracuse complex please!

Players make Coaches look smart. We need better players, especially in the trenches. Coaches need to be able to sell the program - remains to be seen. Hope for the best here.

And those coaches recruit those players. No matter what we should be so much better than we are and that's the coaches fault.

I’m not calling you names. If you’re not trolling, then you’re being intentionally obstinate.

I think we have a number of problems. We’ve swung a missed on a number of offensive line recruits and Cavenaugh is a bad OL coach. Tommy is playing like a first year starter, and as a team we’re shellshocked because we read to many of our preseason press clippings. None of that means doesn’t mean we don’t have SOME good to elite players; it means we have some pretty insurmountable weaknesses for now.

Having said that, the negativity around here is MIND BOGGLINGLY ANNOYING. We took some steps back after we lost a 4 year starter at QB, all our LBs, our #1 pass catcher and both tackles. That happens to a lot of senior laden teams that put it together then drop off. In short, the sky isn’t falling chicken little, and Dino didn’t become a bad coach overnight.

As an aside. I am very concerned that even if Dino gets a roster 100% of his guys in his spots...I dont know that I trust he and his coaches will know how to properly use them. I am stunned at how little the offense has been adapted to try to operate within that very narrow lane that we can safely call Devito's comfort zone.
