I see him blowing for assignments and going for picks too much. And he dropped an easy one. Talented Sophomore but idk about elite. He’s taken a step back like everyone else. Sucks we could really use All American worthy performance from him if he was playing for us like Delphit is for LSU.

This season is immensely disappointing to the fan base after the success of last year. This team (the players) now have to decide if they are going to lay down or continue to fight to get better. The Syracuse University Football Coaching Staff has a tremendously difficult job ahead of them. Up to this point with four games left, you almost have no faith in their ability to right this ship. The amount of penalties each game, the recent rise in the personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct calls is the sign of an undisciplined team. Coach Babers and this staff have four games left to set the tone for next year. To have to listen to TV commentators bust Syracuse Football's chops game after game and as a fan, really having no rebuttal to what they are saying is down right aggravating. Coach Babers has some very tough decisions to make regarding his current staff and how they fit into 2020 and beyond. These are choices he must make or this program will not be where he wants it to be or where this fan base wants it to be. Here's to finishing the 2019 season strong and being back on earth and ready to go for 2020. No more hype, no more build up, just solid ACC Caliber Football. Go Orange!!!!!

I like you but you aren’t either realizing their are Shafer people still and then you got a DB in the game thread who literally gets off being negative then I don’t know what to say.
We have a portion of our fanbase that loves the negativity and drama.
That chit is annoying and doesn’t deserve patience and deserves to be called out.

Criticism is fair. It’s the drama of Shafer people and the negative people who just want to be miserable.

Coaches aren’t going to make any changes in-season as we don’t have the personnel on the roster or it’s too young.
They better make changes and Dino Needs to look at his staff.

I cant speak to that...but I DO believe there are posters who get off on being the, theoretical, "non-hysterical" ones who recognize that this team and program "is what it is" and syracuse fans should not get emotional in expecting better (the Crouthamel defense). They tote around their "apologist" cards like a badge of honor.

nope. Nick Saban wouldn’t have won more than 4 in 2016-17 either. Those teams lacked depth(not the new coach’s fault) and fell apart late in the year due to injuries. Both teams were .500 and competing through the first two months. 2017 team was pretty good until Dungey went down. Schedule was brutal, but they competed well.

Is that too nuanced for this hot take hissyfit thread though?

I played in high school and college but am super concerned as our team looks like it has gone back to square one.

Devito was also a miss and a big one. It hurts to say that but I do not see the potential for him because a few things really trouble me. Awareness, not audible out of plays, Locking in on first read, not k owing where outlet receivers are, holding the ball too long.

I would love to be wrong. I have a source that says the coaching staff believed (before the season) that he could play on Sundays. That is what I am negative about. Playing on Sundays and not even D1 starter is a Grand Canyon of a miss.

I don't think we can do better so thats not entering my mind even if we do crap out this year and next.

The secondary in Dino’s first year wasn’t MAC quality good.
Our secondary depth has become solid in these 4 years.
As has our defensive line depth.

Dino has screwed up the OL and QB depth.
He deserves criticism for that.
He has stocked up cupboard from what he inherited.
Dungey was important but the team wasn’t 1-85 ACC quality when Dino came on.

We did NOT return that much talent. We really only returned our secondary and D-Lone. Everything else saw a lot of turnover.

I disagree with this vehemently. There are a lot of players on the field who had significant experience heading into a the year. And they certainly have even more experience now that we’re 2/3rds of the way through the season. Unfortunately, they’ve been playing badly.
