With many on here anointing Dungey as starter for the next four years, where does that leave Rex?

I certainly haven't forgotten about Rex. Injuries and opportunities open up at every school. Hope that doesn't happen here, but either way, Rex likely redshirts next year and starts as a RS Jr.

Hell no we haven't forgotten about Rex. Love the kid and can't wait until he gets his turn here. Dungey will only have 2 years left once Rex burns his RS. That leaves Rex with a minimum of 2 years to start potentially more is Dungey gets hurt or even possibly leaves for the league after his Jr year

Who has forgotten about Rex? Obviously, people are going to talk about Dungey. He's the guy who is currently on the field producing in actual D1 games for us. Rex is still a year away from even potentially seeing the field for Syracuse. Why not enjoy what we've got, rather than shooing him aside in order to talk about the guy coming next year who might eventually be the starter?

I'm definitely enjoying what we have, and I'm very excited about Dungey. I'm just wondering how this is all going to shake out. I know some posters had Rex penciled in right away.

I love Rex's potential, and his pedigree...but honestly I think anyone who was pencilling him in right away was misguided. Then again, I've been sipping the Dungey Kool-Aid for a very long time so I may be biased there.

Dungey will have a year under his belt. Rex will have Spring camp and Fall camp to prove he's better.

If Rex is really, really good I hope he starts...but this is a nonstarter right now. I'm sure Rex is a competitor...I bet he redshirts and then we have a huge battle. Nothing but good for Cuse. Worst case he comes in and gives quality depth or switches to another position.

I think he would have been a starter at some point if he hadn't gotten hurt, then in trouble.

That kid was depressing. I remember watching the ESPNU Signing Day special and Tom Luginbill gave us a shout out for picking him up, and talked about how good he was. What a let down that turned out to be.

Remember when McNabb left? Culpepper, and whoever else we recruit are supposed to ensure that doesn't happen again.

I'm not completely faulting the staff either, Vick should have been here, but not much you can do with whatever deal his HS coach received to keep him in state.

But going from McNabb to a redshirt freshman Nunes was like trading in your BMW i8 for a Chevy Cavalier.

It has him coming in January with hopefully one more QB for the 2016 class. At least that is what we greedy followers of the recruiting forum are hoping.

He came in hurt if I recall

Memory isn't that great and you might be right. Something with his shoulder. I remember him only being able to throw a nerf football for awhile.

Yes. And 2 more in the following class, and the year after that. Play the best, develop the rest, and natural attrition takes care of the others. It's a great problem to have. And it is what's best for the program. Keep the talent coming.

One play away from going into the games next year. Definitely need two or three quarterbacks that you can win with. Long will be the third.
