He’s not a D1 guard!

Catch and shoot. Great looks early today and they fell. He dominated today to be honest. Great decisions off the pick and rolls to marek and Quincy. Very active on defense. Overall didn’t force the issue on offense. Perfect response game. Couldn’t have been better actually.

He played with effort today. I don’t care if you miss shots, but he can control the turnovers and defensive effort.

Exactly. That was my main frustration with him. He played great today and if he continues, I'll have some crow to eat and be thrilled to do so (although I never went as far as saying he wasn't a D 1 guard)

Joe was hot as a pistol and BC didn't pressure him. He had good energy today and benefited from Buddy. Joe feeds off his shooting. When he is on it elevates his whole game. Shooters are like that.
Thought JB did an excellent job rotating the 3 guys.

This is going to be huge this year.

Bllood shot eyes, red nose.,flushed face...JGIII probably had a cold...... Not a very observant bunch

Really like Newton's performance as well. Not sure his total minutes but 9 points and 4 boards is alright. Really hoping JB keeps Newton in the rotation. It will benefit Syracuse this year and next year. The young man plays with confidence.

Agree. He does seem very confident. It's early, but I haven't seen too many freshman moments out of him.

My one minor concern with him is he can occasionally not put enough juice on a pass, especially bounce passes. He’s going to get a couple of those stolen. Just a little ‘casual’ if you know what I mean.

Great game. Anyone who actually roots for SU wants JG to do well. If he’s crushing it from 3, running a competent point, and isn’t getting destroyed at the top of the zone, then it’s all good. When he’s ice cold, etc., then we have other options.

The OP who often bashes players just wants to yell at people for bashing players.

This, in nutshell.
I don’t think anyone can honestly question JG3’s heart or grit. This was a good bounce back game & here’s hoping we see him play more like this “Good JG”, then “Bad JG”.
My issue is/was what JB does about the rotation- whether 20 mins of Woody/Kadary is a given, or a rarity.
Either way, when Joe is on...the sky’s the limit for this team.

The thing with Joe is that he takes those 30-footers so nonchalantly, when they go in, it looks effortless...when they miss it looks like he is just chucking and wasting a possession.

But as JB said in the presser, when things are rolling and you are in a rhythm as a shooter, those long range shots aren't bad shots. When the team and the player are struggling to score, they are not good shots.

So the game situation really dictates if he wants him taking those shots. Same with Griffin.
