and Marrone was to get separated from the Jags, I'd have him bring his bud Bill and Matty P here.

As far as I know his relationship with JW is solid.

If it works for UNC, why not here?

Thing is, pipe dreams are just that.

The only thing to do is ride this disaster out and hope enough development is accomplished the next 11 months that the program is in better shape next season.

Right now his pro style offense, and ability to identify lineman would be a lot better in this league.

I’m in!!!

Dino really is the ideal HC. His failure to bring in a QB or WR in recruiting has hurt. But IMO his biggest issue is his system.

I think his philosophy is great for SU. He wants a fast paced run first O that spreads teams out and takes shots vertically to keep them honest. The problem is the simplicity of the O. The plays are too basic and easy to defend. Teams don't have a lot of plays to prep against, just pace. Having no playbook seems insane. That isn't going to work here. The run plays are basic and the WR routes are HS-esque.

As to Marrone, his intention was always to get SU headed in the right direction and then leave. His decisions were for the short term so he could return to the NFL. If he was genuinely in it for the long haul then a return should be considered. Although his QB and WR recruiting makes Dino look like Dabo. Also if Marrone came back would he bring his O from years 1-3 which will make us look like a Dazzler team? Or is he bringing the Hackett O which will make everyone happier and bring more success?

Who is Bill?

Dougie and jax separating shouldn't be much of a problem, I'd be happy if we got him back but would he really want to finish his coaching career here

His best friend who is currently unemployed.

I'm sorry, I still do not know who that is? Is that supposed to mean he just could bring whoever, or is this a notable coach? I'm being sincere.

Edit: Bill O'Brien?

I suspect neither of these guys will ever return to the college game.

Marrone...

- Doesn’t like to recruit.
- Clearly had a beef with the Syracuse administration.
- Drips with too much arrogance to come back.

Boeheim has earned the right to be cantankerous as all hell. Mack Brown has a different (aka positive) attitude.

Marrone could gameplan better than anyone. I so miss the Monday AM articles from Rahme outlining what was plotted for the previous game. Phenomenal.

I get the draw of it as a Syracuse romantic though.

Marrone had the BC blueprint of not complicating things offensively. Tom O’Brien did this very well where they were a run first team and game planned wins.

if Dino leaves I’d call Doug for sure. You prob have a better chance at getting Matt Patricia when he is fired though.

Doug and Bill were on the GT staff together early in their coaching careers. They have a lot of history together.

They've known each other since 1995, when O'Brien joined Georgia Tech's staff as a graduate assistant. Marrone was the team's director of football operations. O'Brien's wife introduced Marrone to his wife before either of them knew O'Brien. Marrone later returned the favor, introducing O'Brien and his wife Colleen.

Doug will always stay in the Pros. Im pulling for Dino. Hope he continues to upgrade the staff and im sure he will get a minimum of 2 more years. If he fails our next coach should have strong NE and Florida connections. I expect Dino to turn it around.

His problem is with recruiting. And players who’ve played under him in the NFL don’t exactly rave about him either.

I’d kick the tires after 2021. Maybe.

Total agree with the " simplicity of the O ". Seems like 90% of the plays are the same 15 with different formations. Unfortunately, Dino or most head coaches will ever change their scheme. At least with Sean Lewis the play calling was so much better. He seemed to know where to call certain plays based on what the D has been playing after the first few series. What ever happened to the short 5-10 yard "pop" pass in the middle of the field? The only short passes are directly to the sideline for a gain of 1-2 yards. That play is fine if you have big WR that can block however, we know SU does not have that.

I think Dino rights this ship, but we had to go in another direction due to either him or the university parting ways, check out Jeff Lebby this season at Ole Miss. That play calling against Alabama was fun to watch. I'm sure Lane has a hand in it, but keep and eye out.

I would think Wildhack will find a guy who can recruit the northeast and is a northeastern type guy. In recent lore, it has been the guy from the Bronx (Marrone), Maine (Mac) and the guy from CT (P) who have had the greatest success.

Heck we could see a guy like Chip Kelly get fired at UCLA and come back this way with Azzinaro. Perhaps Don Brown comes with a bevy of hot shot young kids. I wouldn't rule out Billy O'Brien, even one of Belichick's kids may end up getting a look out there at one point. Who wouldn't want to play for Steve Belichick if you are in the Northeast. He went to Rivers and knows the ISL which has become a massive hotbed for football talent in New England (all of them are going to Michigan it seems).

It's gonna take a local if Dino decides to leave. I would be shocked if the university fires Dino though.

I have an irrational fear of Patricia's ear pencil causing a sideline injury.

But otherwise, yes, sign me up.
Matt Patricia is a steaming pile of dung whose team quits or doesn't have the conditioning to finish the 4th quarter. He defenses are soft. He never blitzes and just allows the other team to dissect the secondary while only rushing 3 or 4. I would almost consider giving up my tickets if I had to watch him leave the Lions only to come here. Jim Caldwell was 9-7 his last season as HC and got fired. Patricia has 10 wins total now in his 3rd year.

Longo OC at UNC would be another call I'd make. Former NJ high school coach including Johnnie Morant.

This won't be popular but honestly my first call would be to Jeff Monken at Army. The option is boring - I get it but would certainly even the playing field with regards to recruiting and be a pain in the ass for the ACC week in and week out.
