Well, there is suddenly an acute need for a large hotel on or really near the campus.

Someone has to step up here and announce plans to build a new one. Right?

Doesn't really matter to me but I bet it does to the many alums and friends of the university who travel here regularly...

I think there are so many more off-campus options, SU is tired of losing Room & Board money.

Makes sense. My best living situation on the hill was South Campus. Less communal than the dorms but still lots of people around, with Goldstein right there in the middle. Checks all of the (college kid) boxes. Will definitely recommend that to my kids.

Stay at Hotel Syracuse. It‘s more modern, has better amenities and they usually do shuttles for the big games. Don’t be scared to go off campus guys. Syracuse does not bite.

I think there are so many more off-campus options, SU is tired of losing Room & Board money.

This. A lot of the new buildings are owned by outside entities. SU wants to get control of the $$ back. Buying the Marshall and this are two big ways to do that.

I often would stay here when returning to campus for games. I’ll miss the convenience but have to imagine this dorm will be in great demand. Right next to Newhouse, Whitman, Marshall St, and Schine, with great views of campus. Also your own bathroom!

Another classic shortsighted move by Syracuse. Your only on campus (ish) hotel and the main place for visiting recruits and high level guests/boosters.

They’ve had 2-3 floors for awhile and used even more during COVID as housing for isolated students.

They already bought 1, it’s a matter of time before they buy more (will they build another dorm on the varsity land?) and get those wish of insulation from the city.

No idea. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more parking for the dome as other campus lots are turned into housing.

at the sheraton after a hundred beers and what was probably a horrible football game i lost my balance and tried to regain it by putting my hand on one of the little single leg drink tables. not surprisingly, it only made matters worse so in desperation i tried another table. this process went on for a while and it started to resemble sting in the Wrapped Around Your Finger video with the candles. before i hit the wet ground, i heard the bouncer say "you" and i joined him and we both said "have to leave"
