Hopkins to handle post-game presser today

Do you mean the one where he lit in to that perpetually smirking weasel, Andy Katz?
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of when he came out and went after Bobby Davis and his brother. Obviously, it appears that in retrospect Boeheim was right about them, but we all know it went over extreeeeeemely poorly at the time and JB was raked over the coals.

Ok. I dont really think your an idiot but based on past pressers I think he was told yesterday to stay away

Nice job by Hop in his 1st post game presser. Handled it well.

I missed it, what did he say?

Basically nothing that even a 2nd rate poster or Donna Ditota couldnt have said as long as they were reasonably sober.

Talked about Rak being a special kid. SU not being used to losing 13 games. Some players were forced into roles that were too advanced for them. But they worked hard all year, played hard, made improvement. Said you don't win games if shooting 31%. In the summer guys will work on their shooting and their weaknesses and get better. He was very in control, Nice manner with the media. Asked, how am I doing? Said several times JB is a legend and he would work to protect the legacy of what he built. He was very good, especially given it was his first time in that role.

You do know the video is posted up above in this very thread.

Just scroll up a little bit.

You know you want to. ;)

In all honesty, I am too depressed right now to watch any press conferences or highlights.

Don't worry, I still think CaptainJ is an idiot.

(Did I just re-escalate it? Eh? I hope so!)

I'd like to give and your buddy Jordoo a flying elbow drop after leaving me to the den of vipers on here, even if you make good posts. Now I'm talking an elbow drop from the top ropes, so that is indeed the escalation you desired!

Sure sounded like Hop expects Gbinije back next year. Maybe we can put to rest some of that speculation now.

I thought I would be, because I really get into this team... but maybe knowing so much ahead of time made this game anticlimactic. Also, a few beers for the first time in a grip sure did help! ;)

Ive liked Hop since he played, but to be honest he was little more than a dressed robot going through the motions in that presser. I'm not sure much of use could be gleaned by what he said. That's not a knock, he did his duty admirably, and you could see the care for his players as his eyes seemed to moisten.

i remember his playing days as mostly a floor burned turnover machine. i wonder if he and JB had discussed this before the game or if we'd won who would take the mic. altho i bust his chops regardless i thought hopkins filled in well in a difficult situation.

Hop did a nice job. Stifled a few tears in reaction to Rak, which I thought was OK, and stifled a few, I dunno, burps or something. I'm sure a media adviser would tell him not to scarf down a quick hot dog prior to leaving the locker room for the presser.

He did do a nice job. You could feel the air leave the room when it became clear he was going to answer questions and that JB wasn't going to come out from the door way, ready to verbally eviscerate the establishment and the media Chuck D style. Hop is no Flava Flav, he came off more like Chuck's Media Assassin, Harry Allen.

Seriously, nice job by Hop, and smart move by JB/SU. JB being out there would've been bedlam.

Nah, completely disagree. I think he ripped it. Handled it with 100% class and answered truthfully about the game and JB.

I dont know whats more hilarious, the concept of the elbow drop by the macho man, or the fact that you chose a clip in a foreign language. Also, note that nearly the full brunt of the force was absorbed by Macho Man's knee.

I was looking quickly. The first result he landed on Hulk Hogan nicely, but Hogan kicked out after a 2 count. That didnt serve my purpose as well. Man this is a tough crowd!

Being my elbow drop wasn't good enough for you, I think I'd like to give you a DDT instead! Francis, this one is for you!

I said he handled it admirably...so I don't suspect you truly disagree 100%? ;) By robotically, I simply meant he didnt say anything you wouldnt expect. I truly believe half the people on here could have at least typed those responses, if not delivered them verbally(which is a bit harder). Hop was fine, but if you think he did anything above and beyond, your drinking has caught up to me today and went beyond bro! We can love the guy and not go overboard. I am appreciative for what he did, but the reporters seemed more out of place than him. He was looking around almost hiding a smirk for 30 seconds waiting for someone to come up with a single question! If anything, I think that would help his confidence. No knock, just calling my observation.

"stifled a few, I dunno, burps or something."

there was that certain acid refluxation in his jb genuflection.

A little leadership would have been nice.
What Boeheim should have done was come out...make the statement himself about why his comments must be limited...praise the team (ESPECIALLY RAKEEM CHRISTMAS) and then turn it over to Mike Hopkins.

Is he incapable of saying just what he needs to say without popping off before leaving?

He should speak the words...not a piece of paper.
Rak deserves better.
SU deserves better.
Fans deserve better.
Sad.
