To continue pounding on this subject, this upcoming game against USF is enormous. Everyone thought that the best case scenario through 4 games this year was 3-1. Well we're there and made a valiant effort behind a 4th string QB against LSU. The Dome was rocking on Saturday and the game was heavily watched around the country. The locals who showed up were loud as hell and the headlines all week have been positive. Most importantly, people are interested in Syracuse Football again. Riley Dixon has even entered the Heisman Race. We got some steam.

We need to win this game and win impressively to keep the momentum going. I know there are no style points in the W-L column, but we are a better team than USF. They have some playmakers, but we can handle them if we play the way we're currently playing. Some of our key players will be healthy and back in action. To fall flat in this game would simply eliminate all of the buzz that is now surrounding the team.

Tampa is now a huge recruiting territory for us. Plant HS alone has given us Rex Culpepper and Scoop Bradshaw, let alone Juwan Burgess, Bo Peek and Judge Culpepper hopefully waiting in the wings. It is a talent rich area that FSU and UF constantly pluck stellar recruits from. Playing down there will give Lester a chance to show off his new offense and Bullough to show his attacking and blitzing defensive schemes to all of the local coaches, players and families. Time to shine.

There is absolutely no sense in looking forward to UVA. 100% of the focus needs to be on USF and the coaching staff has these kids dialed in. We have a shot to land a stud TE recruit in Chris Clark who will be undoubtedly gaging every team's success and direction this year. He, along with other top recruits/coaches, like what they see right now. We need to continue that.

We've had a shitload of "must-win" and "turn the corner" games over the last several years, but I say this one has the most excitement and momentum on the line. I have people talking to me about Cuse Football that could've cared less 3 weeks ago. It is amazing what one week can do in the world of college football in terms of expectations. Fortunately for us, eyeballs are paying closer attention to what we're doing and we have an enormous shot to continue building on that.

4-1. LGO.

At USF in 2012 was, well what I feel was anyway, the turning point of that season. 3-4 heading in, and we fought tooth and nail for a 1 point victory thanks to an amazing second half performance. I think people forget, we were down 23-3 at halftime in that game. Looked like our season was pretty much over at that point.

Let's hope that next Saturday is easier, but I want the same end result regardless of what it takes or what it looks like - a W.

Great post... I hope that Dungey is available and our offense looks like it did right before he was injured. Get some swagger on display in the sunshine state!

I know one thing for certain: you're probably drunk right now, too.

Be honest here, Jim. You live in a giant glass of beer.
I have a new love Reds wicked apple ale!

My neighbor works at Miller Coors brewery. They get free beer and apple ale every week! He hates it so free for me!!!!
Sounds to me like the best way to describe your neighbor is to say that he's...

Great post. It sure is nice to be excited and optimistic with justification. Lester is coming into his stride and creating a fun offense with a fine group of playmakers. LGO!!!

Like bait ;)

Great post. Sagarin has us as a 5 point road favorite right now. This of course could change after they play Memphis this weekend. Huge game.

It will change upward. Memphis will manhandle them.

The only way to win this third is win this game.

USF likely 1-3 after this weekend playing Memphis, which is scoring points in bushels, dropped 55 on Kansas, 44 on Bowling Green, and 53 on Cinci.

In no reflection to Scott Shafer, but where would we be if Marrone was still here.
Its hard resetting for the 3rd time in 8-9 years.

This has got to be the team's theme song this year. Hell, anyone who cares about Syracuse football for that matter.

Somewhat off topic, but how great was that SU-USF game in 2013? That final drive, executed to perfection.
