I am sure I will get killed for this

Firing a coach that was just extended - especially at a school like SU - has about a 0.00001% chance of actually happening. That being said, it really is a massive head scratcher as to what has happened to this offense. I mean, in Dino's first year, we had a freaking walk-on QB throw for 440 yards and 5 touchdowns in a game, accumulating 668 yards of offense as a team and 61 points. Now, we can barely get 200 yards of total offense and our 4-star QB looks like he has no idea how to read a defense and doesn't have the skill to make most throws. I fear that it's going to be another long year around these parts.

We came off a 10 win season TWO YEARS AGO. ONLY THIRTEEN GAMES AGO. Can we not act like he went 4-8 for the last four seasons?

Dino is 23-27 in his time at SU. 2 games worse than Marrone at this point in his tenure. He's won a bowl game. He's upset multiple ranked teams.

This whole thread is an absurd overreaction to ONE GAME in a season where kids probably shouldn't be playing, with no spring practice.
Totally disagree...2018 could have very easily been a 5 win season. You make it sound like SU easily won 10 games. IF not for several "miracles" Dino would be looking at a best season of 5 wins.

Exactly why I want to hang onto Dino as long as we can. There's no one that we're going to bring in that's better. How's Les Miles working out for Kansas? No one is a guaranteed success. Dino won 10 games in a season here. I'd give him AT LEAST 2 more years before he'd go on the hot seat.

Exactly, we have tried the quick hook and it hasn't proven successful, the 10 win season means something as well as the big wins that he has had as well. Obviously, we have issues on offense but lets see if we can bear down and get things figured out. It's not a quick fix. Yes it's year 5 but in year 3 we won 10 games and had our best season in 20 years, why are we so quick to forget that. Not a 7 win season, 10. I remember people saying that Marrone would never right the ship on offense as well and in year 4 the thing took off. It can get better.

Again, this is the least desirable p5 destination outside of Kansas and that's really not worth debating. yet, many here think that we will have a our choice of top talent. We also have Dino under contract for awhile so just deal with it

Could have been 11 wins easily too with game versus Pitt, lets not do this. It's 4,4,10 and 5 wins. Is what it is.

Could have beaten LSU too on the road? yada yada yada, it's not worth it

Wow, I was disappointed but it was one game and we have reason to believe we might have a D this year. The offense may just have to be serviceable, hopefully they improve some. Remember we should be getting some O line back during the season.

Unfortunately, crap starts with a dysfunctional O line, and the hope that things will change when we get back some of the personnel seems to be a recurring theme here.

My point is that SU won 10 games in spite of Dino...that is my opinion. I am not saying that SU needs to fire Dino, I am just not a fan of his system/scheme of sideline throws and running up the "gut". Seems like he has about 10 plays with 20 different formations.

And it's a bad opinion. You can't blame the coach for losing and not give him credit for winning. Seems silly to me.

P got fired by an idiot.

Luckily we don't have idiots running SU anymore.

He had about 1100 yards of RB quit on the season. We're not quite at the point to replace that with a 3rd stringer.
The Board of Trustees required Paul to be fired. In truth, it was about 2 seasons too late. He had lost the team.
He made ZERO offensive adjustments at the half of his last game. Out of his whole 90 page playbook for the game, ZERO adjustments.
He and the staff spent the whole last year at practice bitching at players that they were going to cost the staff their jobs. Real pros.

I’m not sure where you’re getting 5 wins and several miracles from. I’ll give you UNC but the closest besides that is WMU and winning that game was far from a miracle.

It’s kind of indisputable that we were closer to being 11-1 than 5-7 no matter how you look at it. It took Clemson playing a perfect second half with their backup qb and a procedural penalty on a 4th down conversion to beat us. So yeah, not the best argument

Beat WMU by 13
Beat Wagner by 52
Beat FSU by 23
Beat UConn by 30
Beat UNC by 3 in OT
Beat NC State by 10
Beat Wake by 17
Beat Louisville by 29
Beat BC by 21
Beat WV by 16

We didn't exactly need Moses to part the Red Sea to win 10 games.

If not for several miracles we beat Clemson for win #11 and Pitt for #12.

One 4th down stop versus Clemson and we win. Like I said, not my favorite game to play but certainly doesn't look like a team that won games in spite of their head coach. Some pretty good beat downs

I feel like this game would have looked a lot different with Bleich. I don't have much hope for this year to be successful, but things have to get better next year.

The ref loses his flag on the "illegal man downfield" and we keep the ball for 4 more plays.

AND - IF Refs blow play dead on standard “forward progress” - instead of letting Dungey get mugged for another ten seconds, during which time Pitt got a strip & score

AND/OR - Pitt’s completely meh FG kicker doesn’t have the ALL-TIME LONGEST FG IN HEINZ FIELD HISTORY (Pro or college) -
and that game is a W.

2 seasons too late? 2001 was a 10 win ranked season. He was fired after 2004, you saying we should have fired him after 2002? But yet Dino get a 5 year pass for a 10 win season with another guy's QB? The logic is mind-boggling

That forward progress non-call is worse than the Clemson call. You never see referees not call forward progress.

It's not about losing to a ranked team. It's about our offensive minded coach scoring 3 pts per half with his hand picked 4 star QB who is a RS Junior and been in this system for 4 years. Please defend that.

It's not about losing, it's about the way we've lost. Maryland, Boston College, and now North Carolina. To lose on national television showing a complete incompetence in multiple phases of football over and over again. From the start of last season(UM), to the end of last season(BC), and start of this season(UNC). Complete ineptitude, mental breakdowns, poor management, what has changed?

The state of this thread after a single loss on the road against a ranked team.
Some of you are just unreasonable.

We looked awful. We looked really small. Our offensive line - last year's achilles' heel - was still crap. We looked like a team that will struggle to win 4 games, without having the non-P5 games on our schedule. I know you are a super-well informed guy on this board, but we were awful.

And the only reason they won 10 games was because of eric dungey, not Babers.

Is the question 'did they only win 10 games because of Dungey?' or is the question 'How many games* would that 2018 team have won if it had Schafer/Marrone/etc at the helm?'

The OL was "still crap" because we were starting a FB / TE / part time DT as the fifth starter, because Pat Davis, Dakota Davis, Froumy, Red, and White all out. That's at least four OG's. And a fifth, if you count Bleich getting boned by the NCAA. I'd like to criticize the coaches for the situation of not having depth -- but c'mon -- five guys out at the same position, at the same time???

Tisdale performed fine at OG in his first start. Really need another one of those guards back to solidify things up front -- and probably several of them for depth. Then we'll see how the OL looks. I'm confident that if we fielded Dakota instead of Elmore, that the protection would have been far better than what we saw Saturday.

Why the hell do we have six OL struggling with injuries? Is it just due to the strange off-season, not being in active team workouts, etc.?

Our LB looked the part. Iffy and Cisco are elite. Our DL is experienced and ACC caliber.

Yes, there is talent on the defense. They still look a bit small to me, but maybe quickness will compensate. Power running teams are going to give us trouble, though, if you ask me.
