Agreed. Getting blown out was deflating and frustrating. It’s a snapshot of how far we’ve fallen. But Virginia is the best team we’ll play all season. Their offense is leagues better than it was last season (their bad offense was why we were able to win that first game against them last year) and their defense is rounding into the usual stout UVA pack line. Time to move on.

Looked stiff with a few good shooters and a d3 point guard. Patriot league but maybe that is where college basketball is at. I don't watch it all that much anymore

It’s interesting how people need to twist their perceptions and reasoning and what they think is “logic,” to focus on there only being a small spot of blood on the floor, while ignoring the gaping chest wound and the protruding axe.
Yep, we lost to Number 8. In years past, there might not be any shame in that. But, the question is, why aren’t we the number 8 team? Virginia seems to be in that position a lot. While we don’t crack the top 25. And that’s just the broad question. What about the specifics that determine that we are a mid league team, consistently, for too many years. With no signs of improving. With no path toward reaching number 8.

But it’s all cool, right?

We beat Virginia a few times. And VA was a better program in the years in which we got those wins, as well.

What fixes it? Does a new coach fix things? Why? How?

I made the comment on here the other day in another thread. With the amount of talent Coach K has had since embracing the one n done how less he has done with it. If JB had the same talent people would be regularly putting for sale signs on his front lawn of his house.

I'm not saying you have to kneel at JB pulpit but have some appreciation and patience look at the cards he has to deal.

The thing is guys like Buddy and JG3 can be useful in roles where the playmakers put them in position to score. Unfortunately JB thinks they’re more useful making plays for themselves as go to guys. Buddy isn’t Luka and Joe isn’t Steph. Jimbo doesn’t seem to realize that.

If Bourama is healthy and Buddy doesn't miss the Rutgers game. We have 3 losses (UNC on the Road, Pitt on the road, and Last night. We beat Rutgers and Pittsburgh first game at home.

I'm not saying you have to kneel at JB pulpit but have some appreciation and patience look at the cards he has to deal.

He chooses the cards. Recruiting is part of the head coach's job. JB and K are not assigned their players. Let's forget K for a minute because it's not fair to compare anyone to him. It's not unrealistic to expect JB to recruit to the level of Bennett or Jay Wright and then coach those guys up.

It's the same center that has been injured most of his time on the hill. Recruit another one that can play. Even without injuries, we should have two guys at the position that can contribute. That second guy should be starting at the moment with MD shifting there for relief minutes or specific matchups. Having no center worthy of getting on the floor is on JB.

The coach is the one who is responsible for the cards he has to deal. He is not a new coach with somebody else's players.

And as the one dealing, he can call the game.

Buddy is playing prob 15-20 min a game more than he should be. Its very frustrating watching him night in and night out struggle ...we’ve lost recruits because of him. Where is player behind him pushing for minutes?
