I hope your coach will keep his cool at least til

The last Clemsoned was the 2012 Orange Bowl versus a West Virginia team 8-5 Syracuse had defeated in Morgantown. I thought WVU could compete with Clemson but 70-35 win was a joke. I rooted for Clemson in that game as I had been too the ACC Title game win over VPI and it was a joke performance by the Clemson D.

The best part was Smith threw for over 400 yards .. it took him at least two games to put those types of numbers up against SU ... LOL

Our 18 conference titles to your 5. our 1981 NC to your 1959...yes you make sense...not
That "point" comes with a HUGE disclaimer! Clemson has been IN A CONFERENCE (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association / Southern Conference/ ACC) since 1899. Syracuse has only been in a conference since 1991 (Big East/ACC).

So what you're really saying is that in 114 conference seasons, they've managed 18 championships (15.8%), while Syracuse has managed 5 in 22 seasons (18.2%).

Yep he is definitely 15 LOL

First...if you are going to use Clemsoning as an insult, use it right.

Clemsoning was originally used to describe a team (us) who'd win a big game, then drop one to a program one would expect us to beat.

You know, beat a Louisville top 3 defense with our backup qb, go on the road to BC and beat a solid and tough team ... then come home and lose to an unranked team with a losing record.

Losing a game like that...that would be "clemsoning".

Or allowing 70 points to WVU would qualify ... Geno Smith threw 6 TD passes ... 1 more than he threw in 3 complete games against SU ... that's a good start. Especially since SU beat them in Morgantown that year .. the more I think about it the more pathetic it truly was. Really gives Clemsoning true definition.

When Clemson touches that rock I do think of a team of Charlie Browns. I guess that's something...

No, not or. WV worked us for sure, but a Syracuse fan using the success of WVU as the crutch of his argument. ..sad.

LOL .. my argument is fine ... WVU spent that entire game kicking Clemson around ... seems relevant to me. Don't you have to go clean your room/mommy's basement now?

Nope, we don't work at nasa...try and keep up.

Yeah, that is crazy because the two basketball programs are on completely different tiers, and that isn't just what is happening lately. However, with football, it is. Historically, the two programs are actually very similar.

I don't get Clemson fans, I really don't. I'm not trying to put your football program down, but the perception among your fans is that you're this big powerhouse program when in reality, you are nothing of the sort. Yeah, you are on a very successful three year ride. However, just look at your own history and you will find that this ride is likely coming to an end soon.

Of course, I would change places with you in a heart beat right now because this has been painful. However, we will get through it and rise while slowly you will erode and have another stint of mediocre seasons. If you don't believe me, just spend some time and look at the history of the two programs... there really is little difference between the two over the years. Clemson fan... congrats on the past three years (seriously). However, try to get a grip on reality.
Clemson fans are proud of having a Top 25 program all-time. It's not elite and a clear step below the likes of Alabama, ND, OSU, Michigan, etc., but it's very good and we have plenty of tradition. We sucked for nearly 20 years between Danny Ford and Dabo Swinney for reasons I'm sure y'all don't care to hear. Right now, we think we're back to having the right coach and the right commitment from the university to be as good as used to be and sustain that. I will point out that Clemson is hardly a mediocre program all-time, as we've had our share of historic success:

National titles: 3
ACC titles: 14
Bowl appearances: 36 (18-18 record)
Major bowls: 7 (4-3 record) (Rose, Sugar, Orange, post-BCS Fiesta, pre-BCS Cotton)
Undefeated seasons: 5

A 5-7 Syracuse crushed that WVU team in the Dome.
In 2010 we beat them at Morgantown and then the Pinstripe in 2012.

Other than 1981, when did Clemson win a national championship? Did I miss something?

Embarrassing game for sure. Got out of hand quickly. I do not think that game defines Clemson or the current state of our program, or even that year's team that won the ACC and beat Auburn, FSU, and Va Tech (twice).

Since that embarrassing loss, we've gone 27-6 with wins over Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State.

bahaha I see you guys have finally figured out what Clemson fans are like for the most part (some fans are good)

Imagine living in SC for 2 years with a bunch of them.

I Loathe Clemson like no other team in FBS.

The Georgetown of FBS?
100% correct.

Wait until we beat them one day. OHH THHE REFS, the refs went to South Carolina, blahahah blaaah blahhhh blah, you guys paid the refs, I think the refs went to syracuse, Why did you guys cheat, you had too many players on the field, your coach plays unfair...

Last but not least... Of excuses I have heard while living there...

"Clemson wasn't trying today"

Clemson has some reasonable fans, but for the most part yeah I hate those Tigers.

I don't have to imagine, I actually do. However, at least I work at the University of South Carolina. I can't wait for the gamecocks to spank them AGAIN this year.

Oh yeah, since I'm such a giving guy - hey Clemson fan... here is a gif that you can use in your signature or just drop it on your desktop for viewing pleasure. :)

My wife went to South Carolina so I may be biased ;)

That is a funny one to attribute to Clemson... or any team outside of the SEC. The "disinterested" thing has been their go-to for years.

I seem to remember a 70-33 Clemsoning against WVU a few years ago (2012), is that recent enough? In the Orange Bowl no less. Clemsoned in front of the nation...historic and something that everyone will remember. Good job!

A few historical numbers for you, cause I think you might be 15 or have severe short term memory.

Clemson All time record 693-454-45
SU All Time Record 705-503-49
Which is better? Shout it out when you know, it's OK.

Bowl Record Clemson 18-18
SU Bowl record 15-9-1
Which is better? Shout it out when you know, it's OK.

Heisman Winners Clemson 0
Syracuse 1
Which is better? Shout it out when you know, it's OK.

Consensus All Americans Clemson 22
SU Consensus All Americans 12
Clemson finally wins one. Yay.

College Football HOF Inductees Clemson 6
SU College Football HOF Inductees 15
Which is better? Shout it out when you know, it's OK

Pro Football HOF Inductees Clemson 0
SU Pro Football HOF Inductees 7 (with Freeney, McNabb, Harrison, Coughlin and possibly Moose Johnston all going to get in as well)
This must be a mistake f0r such a historic program? Is this for real?

Next Tiger up...with something dumb to say please.

1. Let's see, 12 more wins and 49 more loses all-time, should pass you in the win column in 2 or 3 seasons. You will keep that loss total climbing.

2. Winning % did not matter in overall record why in the bowl record. You have 15 wins, we have 18.

3. John Heisman was a head coach at Clemson. I think that means a little more than one heisman trophy.

4. we win

5. you win

6. you win

When was the last time we "Clemsoned"? If you say we have anytime recently you don't know the meaning of the word. The meaning of the word is that you lose to a team we supposed to beat...we haven't done that in a LONG time. We beat the weak now...just like we are going to do Saturday

So you expected to be beat down by WVU 70 to 33? The point spread was Clemson favored by 3. Nice job with that!

3. John Heisman was a head coach at Clemson. I think that means a little more than one heisman trophy.
How many fans (outside of Clemson fans) can tell you he was a HC at Clemson? 10%? 20%? How many fans can list a slew of Heisman trophy winners? 80%? 90%? IMO, the fact that he was HC at Clemson means a little less than nothing.
