I hope your coach will keep his cool at least til

How many fans (outside of Clemson fans) can tell you he was a HC at Clemson? 10%? 20%? How many fans can list a slew of Heisman trophy winners? 80%? 90%? IMO, the fact that he was HC at Clemson means a little less than nothing.

Im glad you are bragging about winning a trophy that was named after a man that coached at Clemson. Im happy for you and the player that won such a prestigious award.

Jim Brown and Don McPherson should also of won Heisman's!

Maybe they stood a better chance of winning if they had played at a different program. I dont know, they sound like good players to me. When did they play?

1. Let's see, 12 more wins and 49 more loses all-time, should pass you in the win column in 2 or 3 seasons. You will keep that loss total climbing.

2. Winning % did not matter in overall record why in the bowl record. You have 15 wins, we have 18.

3. John Heisman was a head coach at Clemson. I think that means a little more than one heisman trophy.

4. we win

5. you win

6. you win

Heisman was there two season lets not get carried away there Turbo ... he made his bones at GT ... thats like us claiming Biggie Munn who went on to folk lore at MSU ... I am glad that you can cling to the fact that he dumped you after two seasons but act like he was there two decades that is cute ... jilted lover syndrome?

Brown didn't win because of his race and i still don't know why McPherson didn't win.

Because he didn't play for ND ... thats why ... if you switched those two athletes and placed them on opposite squads Donnie Mac is toting a trophy. He won the Maxwell that year ... should have had the Heisman too.

Well that and he was just beating down the white boys like Sam Huff who lost a few teeth and was knocked out the first time he tried to tackle big Jim.

Gordy Lockbaum... a 2-way player for Holy Cross received a lot of votes from Northeastern voters. Without Lockbaum, McPherson may well have won the Heisman.

I would say, no different than trying to claim 1 heisman trophy, as some kind of measure stick to prove superiority over another program where the man actually coached. Give me a break.

And Lockbaum couldn't even carry Donnie Mac's jock strap ... so sad.

We finally agree on something. Pretty good on SU history here.

Where's your movie?

Of course the events in the Express could never have happened at Clemson, since y'all didn't integrate until 1975, more than 40 years after Wilmeth Sidat-Singh starred for Syracuse. Sadly, like Ernie Davis, Sidat-Singh died tragically young in 1943 at age 25.

Well, that's exactly what you did. Pot - meet kettle

He was only head man 2 of those years ...

So you're saying that Heisman was an assistant for 2 years at Clemson and they weren't smart enought to make him head Coach from the outset?

Sounds like Clemsoning...

Did Heisman win the Heisman? Nope, and as another poster pointed out, GT can claim him for 16 years of service there, you can't. Where did he coach HS, maybe they could lay claim to him there too.

Still stands at SU -1, Clemson -0.

I don't think John Mackey won the Mackey award either. Damn, I forgot about that, we have an award named after an actual player that played here. Not a carpetbagger we lay claim to.

EDIT: Mackey is also also a Pro Football Hall of Famer. You have none of those either.

When you get someone in the Pro Football HOF, give me a call and I will personally congratulate you.

Until then, go back to mom's basement and clean the Hot Pocket wrappers up before she grounds you from the Laptop.

I didn't "try to claim" anything. SU has 1 Heisman trophy winner, Clemson has ZERO. Pretty clear cut, not much room for interpretation.

Alot of this reads lik
Success goes in cycles for every team and Clemson is currently on a high point... Clemson is very talented, especially on the defensive front this year. Clemson is more consistent with "successful" seasons in the last 25 years, but not overwhelmingly so. As recently as 2010 when SU was 8-5, Clemson was 6-7.

Clemson has 8 wins or more in a season 14 of last 25 seasons, and has had 10 or more wins 5 times (including the last 3 seasons in a row). Syracuse has 8 wins or more in 10 of last 25 seasons, and has had 10 or more wins 3 times.

Clemson has been below 0.500 in 4 of the last 25 seasons. SU has been below 0.500 in 7 of the last 25 seasons. Clemson's sub-0.500 seasons were spread out over that time period so they weren't so painful, while all 7 of SU's have been from 2002 until now.
I just want to make it clear... I'm a SYRACUSE ORANGE fan. Now that said, I agree the two teams aren't all that different. However, in today's landscape of college football, it's about 2 things.. Money and what you've done over the lifetime of the recruits you're trying to grab. History is irrelevant at this point, otherwise, Syracuse would be amongst the elite with their history. Clemson has demonstrated their commitment to their football program. Syracuse has invested more recently, but the disparity in the amount they're willing to pay their coaches as compared to other P5 schools definitely should keep them relevant.
