If Griff ever shows up

He has a place in the rotation, but only as a role player at this point. Should be like 10-12 mins, challenge shots inside, take a couple set 3's, but under no circumstances should he every try to create his own shot. In general I HATE the JB quick hook, over the years it has been so brutal to see these kids play on eggshells as they know they will be pulled at literally any simple mistake, but with Griff I am glad JB does this.

yeah...its weird he's hit an extended slump just as the team (and almost every other player minus QG, maybe) has hit its high.

Its his defense. He really isn't big enough to cover for a power forward (marek) at center. hes scrappy and gives it his best. He still doesnt quite get how to rotate...but he's also being asked to do things defensively that are a bit beyond him, i think. He cant stop a power forward/center from scoring or getting rebounds AND shut down the 3 on his side of the court...

He should be a guard. It should be a 4 man guard rotation. he is a shooting guard, imo.

But I think he was told if he came to SU he'd be a starter and the only slot was at forward...so thats where he is.

If youre gonna go undersized center...you gotta go with 2 power forwards...hence braswell (who is taller and plays bigger down there)

have you watched the last 5 or so games?

no one is saying he isnt good...its just he has hit his low point of the season lately...as the team has hit its high.

I really hope he breaks out too...hes capable for sure.
 
I'm ok with it not coming as long as everything the past month goes the way it's been going. We've lost a bunch of games Griffin has gone off, we've won a lot he's done zero.

Of course it would be great if he shows up, but you're statement isn't even close to right as we've been advancing without him. If we play the same way we've played the last 6 games we're capable of winning the title, Griffin showed up in one of those games with points and almost nothing else. At the end of the day, Braswell scoring 8 with his defense is more valuable than Griffin scoring 22.

I like Griffin, but you're overrating him.

It’s a tough one. But man, it’s hard to see AG helping at this point after the way things have gone in the recent games.

When players aren't producing you put a guy in who is, hence the reason RIchmond gets minutes he wasn't getting earlier in the year.

You realize with Braswell and Kadary playing their middle season minutes the past 6 games we wouldn't even be in the tournament let alone the sweet 16 right?

it’s interesting that when the game is on the line and we need a stop, he plays Kadary, yet said in the presser that Joe is better in the zone.

ah well, id rather he just say it than actually play it the other way, I guess

So you have sat Buddy as well after his start tonight? I like you as a poster two3 but the idea that we should shelve Griffin is preposterous to me

If Braswell has been doing what he's been doing on defense then absolutely.

No I wouldn't have sat Buddy, behind him on the depth chart is Joe when Kadary is in, I would sit Joe 100 times out of 100 times before I sat Buddy for his performance. Braswell is capable and has shown he is far better on defense, something this team was lacking 75% of the season.

He is coaching so much better the past month, night an day, even his in game moves don't agree with what he is saying during the pressers. Maybe he is just trying to confuse everybody, I don't know, whatever it is it's working.

I like Bras too, but I do believe Griffin should be getting more than 10-15mpg

yeah I just shrugged when I heard it. all good, just play the right guy when it matters.

8:21 in the game, we are up 1. Kadary comes in

6 mins later, they scored 6 points in 6 mins and we are up 11.

You're right he should, if he was effective, clearly he isn't and we've made an impossible turnaround on a lost season with him not playing starter minutes.

Ever since Kadary and Braswell started playing more, our forced, rushed, off balanced, and I'll say it bluntly, dumb shots have become a thing of the past. We're a better team with a better shot selection with better ball movement while playing better defense, a lot of that is because of Kadary and Braswell, or the lack of Joe and Griffin the two guys who stop ball movement, force bad shots and who are the two worst defenders.
