gets you a ticket to Pitt, BC and the Indiana basketball game.

That's not bad at all.

I'm sorry, this can't be true, I've been told repeatedly that SU does not market it's teams.

Stop with the lies.

Will people not already looking for SU tickets even hear about this good deal?

Probably not because SU is stupidly not sending people to visit every home in Onandaga County to personally deliver this offer.

:)
Maybe a radio or TV ad?You dont have to go door to door to make an effort,ANY EFFORT to make people outside of your core fanbase aware.

I don't live in CNY so I have no idea what ads are running. I assume Go found out about the offer from either an ad or an email.

Well I do and I haven't heard any ads promoting this deal. They might want to consider getting the word out to people who aren't already buying tickets.Just a thought.

Fair. But I've seen repeatedly here people claim there's be no ads about something, and then someone else chime in that they just heard one on radio or saw one on TV. I'm not trying to be a jerk, honestly, but maybe they're out there and you just haven't come across one yet? No matter what SU does they're not going to spend a ton of money in a week to carpet bomb the market with ads that hit half the population.

Here's the problem, Bud mentioned it on the radio, my guess it is in his story today, didn't read it. It's buried in the game story on the SU website and you have to search for it in ticket packages. There isn't a direct link and there isn't a banner or dedicated story on the SU website. I haven't heard or seen a specific ad for that package.

I think it's a good idea, no marketing. I didn't receive an email for it either.

I am looking for more details on SU's web site and can't find the package... Yeah, they aren't exactly promoting it.

I saw it posted on Facebook and Twitter

It's called the Rivals package, you need to go to the ticketing page and hit the Football Package button.

Then I concede that's bad marketing of a great offer.

Agree. They should have some TV spots, radio spots, front splash page of SUA at the very least. Maybe even work a mention on the local news sports segments. Everyone in CNY regularly watches their Ron Curtis, Wayne Mahar and Carrie Lazarus (I have no idea if these people are still alive, so apologies to anyone offended if they're not).

Axe was defending SU Marketing yesterday saying they had a banner ad running all day on syracuse.com, and that you couldn't blame SU for people not coming out to an important game. Web ads and social media marketing only go so far. No radio/tv ads that I've seen, and it wouldn't take much to get a kiosk in Destiny or send a mobile unit to Armory during lunch to sell these.

I agree that this is a great ticket deal, but it won't sell itself this time of year...and we'll hear SU say again that they don't know why the community won't support the team.

Yeah, it would be silly not to take that deal. I don't live in CNY but it looks like this deal is really new. They need to put the word out there. We have recruits in town for these last 2 games and need to make some noise in there

So our options are visiting every house in the county/carpet bombing the market or nothing?Got it.Maybe some billboards in NYC would help spread the word.

they have huge mailing lists of alumni and season ticket holders to email. how many people on this board dont live with 10 miles of syracuse so dont go to syracuse.com on a daily basis?

they can create mail lists for people who only want to get notified of deals like this . you have to start somewhere.. is there any thing up at destiny to get the casual fan interested? even the deals at the state fair only exist for those that wonder to one bldg

most people looking for a deal go to stub hub if you are looking last minute. most avg fans have no idea when where the game is on tv. they should be working some deal with the tv station to have a feature story every night beyond a canned thing. ask other schools what they are doing that works. maybe nothing does

Yes, that's exactly what I said.

ummm an email to their database list should not be too difficult - and it's 100% free. I didn't get anything on this and i've donated etc. silly silly silly. You don't want to SPAM, but this is a good offer. and yet i've received three emails in the past week to buy SU sweatpants at a discount. What are they thinking?

Yeah I get an email from SU on an almost daily basis. Never got one regarding this deal though :noidea:
