We were far worse.ND was awful that year.
We were far worse.ND was awful that year.
how about 6-15-1 over 2 years?" That's what coach mac, the guy we honored a couple of weeks ago, was.
Best post so far.If someone can sit here and objectively say that Shafer has done a good job with this program they should be taken out back and given a Rutgers jersey. I get that we are caught in an emotional vacuum right now but he is NOT getting the job done. I gave him the benefit of the doubt last year with the injuries but he's lost the last three games to teams we were better than. Shafer is our very own Wannstedt. Good recruiter, terrible head coach. He is best served in the role of DC. Plain and simple.
You make good sense, Jek, as with most of your posts. My personal wish list is Fuentes and Shafer, if Coyle could swing it. Might take more than a few bucks, but it is MY dream ...and I'm sticking to it.Agreed. And that's why I think that if there are coaching changes, they need to be made on defense. I think the offense has shown enough improvement, and has enough young talent, that we can compete with people. The defense is what's killing us. If this defense makes a jump, we will be an extremely competitive bowl team, I think. This talented young offense with even a mediocre defense would be 4-3 or 5-2 right now, I don't think there's any question.
Always coming out with a winner!I love the teams effort. But our season is collapsing faster than Lamar Odom in a Brothel.
upperdeck said:attendance is down because fans are fickle. we heard for years if the games were more exciting and the offense moved the ball people would come and watch. were the last 4 games not decided in the last few minutes? defense is not way worse, just more inconsistent, which is what happens when you go young. offense is vastly better, we had 2 quick scoring drives last year.. 11 already this year. thats a huge uptick in how we score if this team had come in today 5-1 would more people have been there?
Yeah. Each season isn't happening in a vacuum. There's a cumulative effect.I'm not sure you can call a fan base fickle when over the past 14 years we have had 4 coaches and a record of 59-101.
Ok in that case have to keep him.how about 6-15-1 over 2 years?" That's what coach mac, the guy we honored a couple of weeks ago, was.
Shafer was kept for stability and here we are. Transfers and recruiting flips are meaningless in the big picture. Need to right the ship.It's really easy. Look at the big picture. Not just he Wins and Loses. Look we are Syracuse University, not Alabama. We have a lot of things going against us. We need to have some stability for a few years. If HCSS goes after the season we will have transfers and our recruiting class will get blown up. How many years does that set us back, is it really worth it?
Sure you can, excepting diehards like the ones who post on the this forum.I'm not sure you can call a fan base fickle when over the past 14 years we have had 4 coaches and a record of 59-101.
For those who are impatient, well not sure what to tell you. Bringing in another guy at this point is the not the solution.
At this point I would just as soon can him so that I can enjoy the discussions on this board again, wins and losses be damned.how do you justify bringing the head coach back when you are 6-18 over two years?
You cannot be serious.What would be Shafer's 3 best wins?
2013 (Record That Year)
Tulane (7-6)
@NC State (3-9, 0-8)
@ Maryland (7-6)
WFU (4-8, 2-6)
BC (7-6, 4-4)
Minny (8-5)
2014
@Central Mich. (7-6)
@WFU (3-9, 1-7)
2015
Central Michigan (4-4)
WFU (3-5, 1-4)
Take CMU and WFU off the schedule and he actually is GROB.
To back track but it plays a point. We would be 1 win closer to bowl eligible had we not played LSU.
If we played someone like Tulane, or Amy, or somebody at home go take a look how Rutgers schedules.
Just something that dawned upon me. We don't need to be playing games upcoming seasons in Met-Life against name big time name opponent.
We need easier non conference schedules.
we are probably looking at 4-8 at best, but I don't think coyle can fire shafer. not with dungey on board so far. if next year is 3-4 wins, shafer gone and rightfully so.how do you justify bringing the head coach back when you are 6-18 over two years?
agreed, shafer is dreadfulWhat would be Shafer's 3 best wins?

hey can you tell me a story about all the awesome football that has been played at the dome in the last 15 years? do the math on our record against BCS/P5 teams, it is pretty damn bad.Sure you can, excepting diehards like the ones who post on the this forum.
Plenty of fair weather disinterest in CNY.
Just my opinion but as a whole I think Syracuse is a pretty bad sports town. It takes on the overall negative attitude of most of the people who live here.59-101
