So you want to invent a chant using a name we haven't used in a generation. Do you also propose we do a pink and/or green-out?
We need instant replays on the jumbotron for all penalties.
or a football team!Giants also have no cheerleaders or a mascot.
Or a head coach...
Not saying you're wrong, but I've seen them at other stadiums. I think this is an SU only thing. There is a gentleman’s rule in the ACC that they wont show replays of controversial plays……..or so I have heard….

It’s a reason for fans to stay home and watch on tv. I don’t understand how they rationalize not playing all replays. I guess they want fans to pull out their phones to get a replay. No it’s an actual ACC thing, however, many of the other schools break the “rule”….
Again because it’s only a gentleman’s agreement and there are no ramifications if you don’t.
Many of Syracuses issues with fan environment is because they play it way too safe.
1) SU fans are too cool for school and won't do chants or songs. I mean, just look at the responses in this thread. We are the lamest P4 fanbase in that regard. I mean that literally. I have yet to attend a CFB game that has less crowd interaction than at the Dome. Hell, most NFL games have more too. At the 2013 Final Four the Wichita State fans had 10X the energy that we did. Wichita State.
2) The only hope, and one I have advocated for years, is to hire someone away from the WWE to run in-game stuff at the Dome. There is no better company in America at generating fan interaction than the WWE.
3) We won't pursue #2 so don't bother worrying about it. SU fans love their teams and travel well. We're just impossibly lame.
Why is it Sala’s fault?I can boil it down to one person. "The Legend" Pete Sala
I remember this and I appreciate HCSS’s efforts. I think we started with the Lock ‘Em In the Dome schtick complete with sfx of metal door slamming and lockingBelieve it or not, back in 2015(ish) HCSS brought in an outside consultant that helped build Penn State's game day environment into one of the best in the nation to help the SUAD make the game-day experience more exciting and entertaining. I personally met this consultant before a game. He stated to me that day that the Dome production staff and members of the SUAD were too comfortable in what they had always been doing to really make the changes. He was disappointed as he truly saw the Dome in-game atmosphere as having the potential to reach those PSU level atmospheres. That was 10 years ago so I am sure a lot has changed since then (or maybe not).
It’s not. Sala doesn’t run the marketing side of it.Why is it Sala’s fault?
When we’re winning there is no comparison to the atmosphere we have. When we are losing it’s not awesome.
This is actually a pretty clever idea. It's much less disruptive to have longer breaks between quarters, then to have the current stoppages during play. Reduce in-game breaks to 2:00 and make quarters 6:00 (or whatever it needs to be to offset). Just wish someone in power could make a god damn smart decision that actually improves the flow of the game for once.During play, sure. The problem is we went from 2:40 breaks to 3:50 breaks. That dead time kills the atmosphere and crowd momentum. Heck even 2:40 is too long. We don't need TV breaks for a change of possession. Just have them end of quarter.
So even when we are good, you have all this dead time to fill.

That’s not a Dome problem. Take that up with the networks that pay the bills.During play, sure. The problem is we went from 2:40 breaks to 3:50 breaks. Yeah, it's almost like the networks expect to make money from the revenue they provide the conferences. That is still too long IMO. I think the refs should spot the ball and start the 40 sec clock. When it gets to zero ref blows the whistle and that starts the play clock. So TV has 30 seconds to squeeze in commercials during change of possession.
For timeouts taken by the team you can have 2 mins. Then the quarters 4 mins.
The worst is when the team scores a TD, you have to wait for the PAT, then a commercial break, then a kickoff, and then another commercial break.
It is a Dome problem because they suck at providing relevant content during these breaks. That’s not a Dome problem. Take that up with the networks that pay the bills.

Networks don't make enough money from soccer. That's why FIFA concocted in-game "hydration breaks" for the World Cup next summer. If the networks can figure out how to make money off of soccer I am sure they can figure out short commercial breaks. We just bend over and take it.
Because back then, we couldn't get most of our opponents out of the Dome fast enough. They were having too much fun and didn’t want to leave.I remember this and I appreciate HCSS’s efforts. I think we started with the Lock ‘Em In the Dome schtick complete with sfx of metal door slamming and locking
That was pretty good. Idk why they stopped

They figure it out by paying less for rights than if they were able to broadcast commercials like they do for football. This would require conferences and leagues to be willing to make less on TV contracts - I believe that is unlikely.
