Well, I do disagree about there being any racial component in this instance. It's a racial slur, but in this particular case, there was pretty obviously nothing to do with race in its use.

But it'd be a white dude saying it about a black dude. In that case, yes, it's obviously racist. In this case, it's a black dude saying it about an opponent who happens to be white. It's a staggeringly common term used by the young black population. You don't have to like that, but it's a little foolish to think this was racially motivated.

Exactly. Spend an afternoon looking at social media, following ANY young black athletes. It's one of the most commonly used words you'll see.

Agreed. I don't buy the excuses. It was an incredibly dumb, poor sport thing to say. To say nothing of the connotation in which it could be interpreted--good or bad.

I didn't say it was racially motivated, I should have elaborated more but it's ignorant for anybody to say, black, white, asian, latin, purple, green whatever. I just want to know why it's ok for the Harrison kid to call Kaminski that word but if Kaminski said it the world would have ended. Please tell me what Harrison meant when he said it if it wasn't meant to be harmful.

Replace it with "kid", "guy", "dude". That's what he meant.
