Yes, yes it is. As a kid my fathers would get three TVs set up in the living room on New Years Day so we could watch all the bowl games. Now I'll generally be doing something other than watching the bowls on 1/1 since the big bowls are now so spread out - but conference championship day has really taken the place of New Years Day for college football. Spending the day with multiple TVs going watching the games right now today, just like New Years Days of old...

funny you say that as that's what I was thinking earlier. For whatever reason it's the first saturday all fall without other obligation so it's the first full day I could be a lazy bum and watch all day, so thought that was it.

Games that have meaning and should still with the playoff with 4. Or maybe 8 if they give automatic bids go conference winners.

Regardless good fun day of games. Here come the Noles and OSU.

Parents in Connecticut have been converting old VHS tapes to DVD. Sent me a gem. Received Syracuse - Penn State 1987 in the mail and watched it with my two boys [10 and 8] in the 12:00 noon slot.

Really grainy recording because of the degradation of the tape. But it was the first time I've ever watched the game on "tape" start to finish, since I was a freshman in the SUMB then.

Was a great was to kick off "new New Year's Day."

I was thinking the same thing also. I used to love New Years day with all of the football games. Made for a really good New Years party. I miss that all day atmosphere or really good games.
