Is VT playing at the Dome like us playing at Pitt?

Interesting thread. I'm not enthusiastic about equating VT at the Dome and 'Cuse at Pitt. Taking a cursory look (links below), while we beat Pitt last year at a neutral site, we've lost to them on the road every time since we won there in 2001. During that period we're 4-19 against them overall, and 0-11 at Pitt. By contrast we beat V-Tech in Blacksburg 3 years ago. And during the same period, with a smaller sample size, we've been competitive against them (4-2 over the last 20 years). Another factor is that Pitt has often bullied us, as they did this year even with our beefed up squad. Their defense was, and has been, dominant - talented DL's, big physical DB's, and LB's flying all over causing chaos, etc. So to me, with only a few exceptions, Pitt has dominated us, especially on the road, and V-Tech has not.

Not sure you are correctly understanding the question. The OP is asking if VT views playing in the Dome in the same way we view playing in Pittsburgh. VT just can't seem to win in the Dome and we just can't seem to win in Pittsburgh.

Seems VT has only beaten us two times since 2001 (of 7 games) and both of those were in Blacksburg. Seems they have only beaten us twice in the Dome (or more generally, in Syracuse) in the 11 games over 60 years we have played them. (9-2 in Syracuse)

That said, we're 3-7 in Blacksburg, and about .500 in our 90's heyday.

Fair criticism. I was attempting (perhaps poorly) to answer the question but discovered that VT has only played in the Dome 3 times in the last 20+ years. So it became difficult to assess "how they feel" about playing 'cuse in the Dome with such a minuscule sample size, and I drifted into a more general comparison. True, all 3 were losses, but one was in over time and both of the others 2 scores or less (closer games). So I doubt they roll into the Dome with much trepidation. By contrast, my guess is we view playing in Pittsburgh as a bigger challenge. While both teams are winless on the road against the other, our road losses at Pitt are almost 4x VT's losses in the Dome (a real monkey on our back with many more examples).

There was a stretch in the '90's when neither team could win on the road. Then Vick came in and stole that game late in 2000 and Freeney returned the favor in 2001.
