It’s Portal time!

At this point with the freedom to come and go with the portal it's just not this simple. You bring in a kid who clearly may have a leg up or an expected leg up on Joe and then he decides to move on while time allows him. Some I know would be overly thrilled with that but the likelihood chemistry is impacted is high. It's a nice thought on paper than in practice. The loyalty aspect is seen a two way street more than ever right now with college athletes these days.

If we decide mins going forward based on loyalty, in the current climate, this will not end well

I am not even talking minutes. Just referring to recruiting over kids and the reality that comes with. If you can live with the risk that we could actually be worse because of recruiting over a starter (possibly twice) through the portal for the possibility of a bigger reward then so be it.

It's not that I think loyalty is above all else I am just saying in this current environment both kids and programs may run into the grass isn't all that greener. It's ideal a kid gets better and develops vs replaced if possible.

Making a big time move now shakes things up and you could lose more and be regretting the gamble. Just hope everyone sees that here.

I want to see us grab another guard as well but not if it's at the complete expense of next year being a good team.

I just can't imagine the pool of capable PGs that we could get with our situation is deep.

I'm way past expecting another guard to join us. Or at least anyone that would crack the rotation.

I think our better bet is to hope that JGIII levels up and Symir can really give us solid 8-10 mins off the bench. Fingers crossed no injuries.

I'm fully focused on the Frank situation. If he leaves, then I'll be worried for the center position, but I'm assuming our guard situation is locked for this upcoming year.

Yeah that's where I am all the same.

Know anybody on the Rutgers board? Would love to find him a good home

This kid is an example of the foolishness of the transfer portal and doing away with the one-year sit-out rule.

Fl with its 4th transfer addition...gotta be tough for any leftover 21 recruits that were waiting on being recruited/offered.

Phlandrous Fleming to Florida? Phlucking flantastic!

I think that's very optimistic thinking. At a certain point, people have different skills, different traits, size, speed, etc., that they look for in a player to fit into their roster.

Not every person is a round peg that will go into another round hole.

Not all holes are round in this game. Each team has different requirements. Not every guy is guaranteed to fit what the coach is looking for from a player.

A lot of these guys are going to have drop down a level to get a landing spot. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 30-50% of them all. Not all of these guys are "all that". Not all of them are good enough to play in Division 1.
I think this is correct. I feel like the bottom 25%-30% of players in the portal won't get the interest they're looking for and will find they've been replaced when they try to go back to their old team.
